The couple is accused of paying more than $500,000 in bribes to get their daughters Bella and Olivia into the University of Southern California. While Loughlin and Giannulli presented a unified front when they returned to federal court in Boston on August 27, sources close to them say their more than 20 year marriage is in trouble. Are Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli divorcing?
1. Private jet vs. commercial jet
Reportedly, the couple butted heads over whether they should take a private jet from Los Angeles to Boston for their court appearance. They were advised by their attorneys not to do that, but Mossimo insisted. He thought it would be a "zoo" if they flew commercial.
2. Taking a deal vs. going to trial
Another area in which Loughlin and Giannulli butted heads was over whether they should take or reject a plea deal from prosecutors in April. Loughlin was reportedly furious that Giannulli didn't want to take the plea deal. She was inclined to accept it, which he felt it would ruin both of their careers.
3. They didn't understand the charges against them
A source close to the case told Page Six that Loughin and Giannulli pleaded not guilty before they understood the full severity of the charges againt them. Now they realize that taking the plea deal was probably better for them. They face up to 40 years in prison.
4. Bella is worried
According to multiple reports, Loughlin and Giannulli's daughter Bella is extremely worried over all the strife in the family and the strain that's put on her parents' marriage.
5. Lori's friends want her to cut and run
An insider reports that Loughlin's friends want the Fuller House star to leave Giannulli. According to this source, "...Lori refuses and says the ordeal has made them stronger."
6. False alarm?
According to E! News, the college admissions scandal has been incredibly stressful on both of them. The source said: “It’s been very stressful and the most challenging year of their lives. It’s been hard on their marriage because of all the decision making and not always seeing eye to eye. There’s been a lot of sleepless nights and rough days.” Bella shouldn't worry — it looks like Mom and Dad have no plans to call off their 23 year marriage just yet! The source said: “It’s not perfect and they don’t always agree on things, but they also know that they have to stay united through this process. They are in this together and know they have to stay strong. They support one another and are a team.”
