Danny Trejo Proves That Not All Heroes Wear Capes; Saves Baby Trapped In Overturned Car
He just might be the nicest guy in Hollywood!
He's an actor best known for his role as Machete in the Spy Kids films, and the subsequent eponymous film of the same name. And while he may play tough guys on-screen, he recently proved that he's not only one of the nicest guys in Hollywood, he's a real-life superhero, as well. Who is Danny Trejo?
Let's look at what we know about this adorable actor and amazing human.
1. He rescued a baby from a flipped car.
According to CNN, Danny Trejo was minding his own business when a terrible car accident happened in Sylmar, CA, located in the northernmost part of Los Angeles. One of the vehicles flipped over, leaving a baby trapped inside. With the help of another bystander, Monica Jackson, Trejo leaped into action and freed the baby. And while the baby wasn't seriously hurt, three other people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
2. Danny Trejo likes his tacos.
According to Fortune Magazine, Danny Trejo doesn't just limit his talents to the acting world. Rather, he's branched out and expanded his talents to the restaurant industry, opening up Trejo's Tacos in Los Angeles. He's also opened up Trejo's Donuts, also in Los Angeles; both often appear in "pop-up shops" around the country. And, as a sidebar, if you haven't tried the vegan mushroom asada taco, you're clearly doing something wrong with your life because that taco is absolutely ah-may-zing.
3. His mother still calls him 'Machete' to this day.
According to VladTV, Danny Trejo so embodied the character of Machete in Spy Kids and the subsequent Machete movies that his mother still calls him 'Machete' to this day. But he's also known for his roles in such films as Anchorman, Bad Ass, Anaconda, and Con Air.
4. Danny Trejo also has his own record label!
According to HipHopDX, Danny Trejo created the Trejo's Music record label, where he features artists of Latino/Hispanic heritage. He recently released Chicago Soul Shop Vol. 1, the first in a series of "mixtapes" that will showcase independent artists and their music. Though rapper/producer Baby Bash and radio legend E-Dub are prominently featured on the album, Trejo's goal is to get people to really "know" his shining star artist, Tarah New.
5. He currently voices Boots in the new Dora the Explorer film.
According to The Boston Herald, Danny Trejo isn't just limiting his acting roles to "bad guys." In the film, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, he voices "Boots," the iconic monkey sidekick to Nickelodeon's own Dora the Explorer! Trejo said that he had "so much fun" playing the character.
6. Danny Trejo is someone who believes in 'giving back.'
Above all else, what makes Danny Trejo such a great person — and great actor — is that he believes in always giving back. He told ET Canada that "everything good that has ever happened, happened because someone helped someone else." And that's something that he strives to do in both his personal and professional life. Danny Trejo is proof positive that not all heroes wear capes!
