LPBW Star Tori Roloff Reveals Her Pregnancy's Been Difficult, Suffers From Pubic Symphysis
It's been a difficult pregnancy.
Pregnancy comes with its own set of complications, depending on the woman carrying her child. Common problems include frequent urination, backaches, infections, constipation, cramps, indigestion, anemia, gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, depression — the list goes on and on. But while these are to be expected, there are other less-common issues that can arise.
Tori Roloff, who is married to Zach Roloff of Little People, Big World, is pregnant with the couple’s second child. The Roloffs are parents to two-year-old son, Jackson, and Tori is expected to deliver in November 2019.
But she recently revealed that this pregnancy has been more difficult than her first.
On May 14th, Tori responded to a Q&A on her Instagram. One follower asked her, “Has this pregnancy been easier or harder so far?” to which she responded, “A lot harder. But still easy. If that makes sense. I had no symptoms with J other than egg aversions. I’ve got all the symptoms this time.”
And one of the symptoms she’s dealing with is pubic symphysis. What is pubic symphysis?
Also known as Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction, it’s “a group of symptoms that cause discomfort in the pelvic region. It usually occurs during pregnancy, when your pelvic joints become stiff or move unevenly. It can occur both at the front and back of your pelvis. SPD is also sometimes referred to as pelvic girdle pain. The condition isn’t harmful to your baby, but it could be extremely painful for you. In some, the pain may be so severe that it affects mobility.”
Its symptoms include pain in the lower back, front center of the pubic bone, perineum, and pain when walking, turning over in bed, and putting weight on one leg. It affects 1 in 5 pregnant women, and though it’s not harmful to the baby, it can impact the woman’s state of mind, sometimes leading to depression or sadness.
Tori took to Instagram to ask her followers for help, posting on her Story, “So I’m convinced I have pubic symphysis pain. It’s literally all day. Do any mamas out there have this as well and have you found any relief? I’m not a huge fan of taking medication. (No judgment from me, it’s just my preferences.)”
On July 6, she made another post on Instagram, opening up about her insecurity surrounding her stomach and her second pregnancy.
She wrote:
“This pregnancy has been a lot harder on me than the last. Don’t get me wrong — I’ve been so lucky... im not sick (anymore) and I haven’t had any complications (thank the lord). However I have had a harder time accepting my body this go around. I’ve gotten bigger a lot faster than I did with Jackson and I’ve become a lot more insecure. Hearing people ask me if I’m sure it’s not twins definitely does not help (for all our sakes-don’t ever ask a woman this question. Like ever).
It’s been hard to really enjoy this pregnancy because I’ve let my own body image issues get in the way. Us as women are so badass. Like we can grow babies. And I know I need to give this up to God right and be thankful for this gift-and I’m trying trust me. But for all those women out there-pregnant or not — you need to hear this just like I do: you’re beautiful, you’re strong, and dang it love yourself no matter what. I know someone besides just me needs to hear that today. So excuse me while I go try my best to live out these words and continue growing a freaking human being.”
Hopefully, Tori finds some kind of relief or suggestions from her fans. In the meantime, she definitely has the support and love of her husband, Zach.
