TikTok Star @kylerlovesjesus #Cancelled After Homophobic, Misogynistic, Pro-Life Rant About 'Murt-er'
What in the world is "murt-er?"
No matter which side of the debate you're on, abortion is a touchy subject. So, when TikTok user @kylerlovesjesus took on the heavy subject on July 22nd, he got blasted — and not just because he's against it. He called abortion murder, except he said "murter." Kyler used his TikTok channel to lecture his followers about how "digusting" abortion is and how he believes (emphasis on HE) no one should have them. As you can imagine, this caused his fans to lose their minds — but not over his views on abortion. Nope, his fans were dragging him for how he pronounced murder "murter." Who is KylerLovesJesus?
1. Kyler's fans are confused
The video was posted on July 22nd. It is one minute long. As you can probably surmise from his user name, Kyler is a devout Christian. He went on and on about how women and men seeking abortions are being "played" by abortion providers. He said: "Killing innocent babies is not okay. If you don't want to have a baby, do not have sex. Wait til marriage or use a condom, bro. If you think having an abortion is even close to a think that's not abortion — yeah you're right, it's called murt-er and it's legal. Yeah, you're right; it's not called abortion. It's called MURT-ER. And it's legal in four states. It's disgusting." OK there's a lot to unpack there, like why the sudden rant? Was he trying to alienate people? And why is he saying murt-er? We can see why KyleLovesJesus's fans are confused.
2. He thinks men are brainwashing women into having abortions
Kyler went on to say that men are controlling women with abortions. “Yeah, you’re male and think you have no choice? You want to hear something funny, though? The doctors that you’re allowing to perform those abortions have the choice because they’re males. How does that make you feel? You’re literally allowing these males to kill your baby. But that’s okay? Okay. Got ‘em! You just got clowned, bro. Cause I just see how many people are brainwashed, man. And I love you guys, so that’s why I have to tell you the truth.”
3. He "apologized" on IG and slammed the LBGTQ community
Kyler just kept putting his foot in his mouth. He slammed the LGBTQ community. He said: "I don’t hate anyone, I love everyone. I don’t condemn you. I know the truth and stand on the word of God. Jesus came and died 2000 years ago on Calvary’s cross for our sins. We don’t have to live in fear, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts — none of that. But, we can live in covenant with the father and live with the fruits of the Spirit. God has a plan for everyone’s life — a plan much greater than anything you can imagine. And that is why I do not agree with abortion; because, it is taking a life away from a baby that is silent and helpless with a call of God on his/her life. I do not stand for any type of sin or support the LGBTQ community. Not because I hate those people, but because I know the word of God is more real than anything else. Because Jesus is the only one who came and defeated death, hell, and the grave and rose again three days later with POWER. I won’t stand down because of hate, but I will glorify God through the persecution. I honor God, I respect God. I do not condemn anyone, but I tell you the truth out of love. Romans 3:23/ 6:23 ‘For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, but for the wages of sin is death and the gift of God is eternal life through out Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 10:13 “WHOEVER CALLS UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED'”
4. People corrected his many errors
Kyler got a number of things wrong during his rant. He said that all abortion providers were men, which is not true. He also said that abortion is legal in four states. Um, no, it's legal in all 50 states and has been since 1973 — long before Kyler was born. Sure, four states have passed legislation to restrict or ban abortion — Ohio, Georgia, Alabama and Missouri — so that's basically the exact opposite of what Kyler said in the TikTok video.
5. His apology was NOT accepted
Needless to say, Kyler was absolutely dragged for his comments against the LGBTQ community. So what did he do? He tried to apologize again in a very mansplain-y way, saying he is allowed to have an opinion. "I’m sorry for things I’ve said, however, I stand on [sic] my opinion and I’m allowed to have an opinion. I respect other people’s opinion and I respect women, and women’s rights. However, I do not support abortion. If you have an abortion I don’t hate you, and I don’t condemn you or judge you. It’s your body and your choice. However, I will not promote it or support it by approving it.”
6. "Murt-er"
Kyler's TikTok video has been viewed more than 8,000 times. Twitter and Instagram could not let the "murt-er" thing go. One Instagram userr commented: “bro you look like a bicycle seat how df u gonna come for what women choose/dont choose to do Ive read the bible you clearly have not, you are supposed to love your neighbors and show love to everyone not be an edgy meme lord that hates women and gays,” another wrote on Instagram.
