Lawson Bates And Jana Duggar Potentially Courting
Their families are friends.
instagram Over the last decade, women have been focused more on their careers rather than getting married and starting a family. But for the Duggars, this way of life is unheard of. The Duggar family are devout Christians with 19 children, and once their children are of age, they begin “courting,” having children as soon as humanly possible.
While Jana Duggar’s other young adult sisters have gotten married, had babies, and are living in wedded bliss, as the firstborn girl in the family, she has yet to tie the knot. We can only imagine the pressure she’s faced, especially considering that Jill, Jessa, Jinger, and Joy-Anna have all gone through the courting phase — and all have kids of their own.
The Duggars also have a list of rules for their daughters to follow, including wearing modest clothing, and not being allowed to befriend women who are unwed mothers. Jim Bob Duggar even made a joke at Jana’s expense at her own birthday party about not being married yet at 29 years old. But there are now rumors circulating that Jana has a boyfriend and potential husband.
Are Lawson Bates and Jana Duggar courting? The Bates and Duggar families have both been featured on TLC, with Bringing Up Bates, and both families share similar Christian views. However, we haven’t yet seen a member of either family court one another ... until now, apparently.
Fans have noticed Lawson has been flying to Arkansas quite frequently, fueling rumors the two are dating. A post by Jana on her Instagram also had fans going wild after Lawson commented:

Fans speculated on a Reddit thread, writing, “This is one of several recent flights there. Could be he’s just doing some flight hours for his license, but courtship is always a possibility,” and another commenting, “Can he and Jana please just court already so he can get more of the spotlight he so DESPERATELY craves OMG.” However, Jana squashed the rumors, replying to a fan, “No, we’re not a thing.”
Lawson also addressed the dating rumors after the official Instagram account for the Bates family liked a comment on his page, suggesting the rumors were true. But according to him, “My mom was scrolling through late last night and didn’t realize what she was liking. Meanwhile, Instagram 101 for my mom is now in session.”
So, are the trips to Arkansas just a coincidence? Is Lawson interested in dating Jana? Or is there another reason he’s been in the area?
Lawson is also one of 19 siblings, as documented on Bringing Up Bates. The series follows the lives of Gil and Kelly Jo Bates, along with their children. The family has nine boys and 10 girls, as well as nine grandchildren.
Lawson is a musician, who, according to his bio, “music, family, and his faith in God were instrumental in his background.” When he was 18 years old, he started working in Nashville, TN, with Andy Leftwich, instrumentalist and producer, on his first solo album. He also released his first country album in 2016.
While there’s no confirmation that the two are dating, we can only assume Lawson has been flying to Arkansas for his career. But there’s always hope for something more.
