'Bachelorette' Contestant Peter Weber's Ex Calee Lutes Accuses Him Of Breaking Up With Her To Go On TV
She says he dumped her for a chance to be famous.
Instagram Peter Weber has been winning the hearts of Hannah Brown and Bachelorette fans on this season of the reality dating show. The pilot from the Los Angeles suburbs comes across as a low drama, easy to like guy and his approach has him as a possible front runner to win the final rose
But there is one person who isn’t feeling the love from Peter: his ex girlfriend, model Calee Lutes. The Atlanta resident dated Peter until December and thought they had a good thing going. She was shocked when he broke things off without an explanation. A few weeks later, she dicosvered that he was going to be contestant on The Bachelorette — he hadn’t even told her he was interviewing for the show. Who is Calee Lutes?
1. Peter
As we reported here at YourTango, Peter has made a name for himself but being the nice guy in this year's cast of contestants. He talks earnestly about being close to his parents, following in his father's footsteps as a commercial airline pilot and his love for his dog. Hannah seems drawn to his easy-going personality and boyish good looks. He even tugged on her heartstrings by sharing how hard it had been for him to get over his last relationship, implying that it had been serious and his heart had been broken at the end.
But Calee Lutes has a different story. Hollywood Life reports that she is pretty sure she was the girlfriend he talked about and she says that, while he may legitimately feel bad about what happened, it was he who left her, not the other way around.
Peter is a pilot.
2. Serious relationship
Calee told Entertainment Tonight that the relationship wasn’t just a fling. The couple had met on a dating app while Peter was in Calee’s home city of Atlanta for a month-long training. They hit it off and got serious right away, deciding to continue despite his home base of Los Angeles. Calee says that had been seeing one another every week or so, despite the distance, and she had stayed at his house with his parents when she visited in LA. Not only that, he had invited her along on a family vacation to New York City.
But more than that, they had been sharing plans for the future, she recalls, saying: "We were very serious. He told me he loved me for the first time in October, and we talked almost every time we saw each other about how we were going to make it last long term. He wanted me to move out to L.A. to be with him, and he wanted us to get an apartment together. I was open to moving out there for a year or so, to give our relationship a fair chance, but he told me he didn’t want me out there temporarily... he wanted me out there "forever." We also talked about kids, down to the logistics of how we would fly them back and forth between L.A. and Atlanta to visit my family if we did settle down in California. We talked about all of this right up until he broke up with me.”
Calee considered leaving Atlanta to live in California nearer to Peter.
3. Break up
Calee recounted to ET that everything had been perfectly normal in the days leading up to the break up. She had been on the west coast for work and he had spent time with her there. They spent their days together talking about whether or not they would like to live together in Santa Barbara. Calee returned to Atlanta and they continued their usual habit of daily FaceTime calls. But then, just before Christmas, he dropped a bombshell on her. “A few days later, (two days before Christmas), we FaceTimed and he said that we should end our relationship before it got even more serious. He didn't really have a reason why. I was devastated and completely blindsided,” she said. “I didn't understand why it was so urgent to end things so suddenly. I thought there was another girl, so I looked at his recent followers on Instagram, and noticed that a Bachelorette producer had recently followed him. I didn't think much of it at the time, but I knew there was something he wasn't telling me.”
Calee works as a model.
4. Erasing Calee
In the wake of the break up, Calee realized that Peter was removing traces of her from his social media accounts. While it’s not unusual for former couples to delete photos of an ex, Peter took it farther. “He deleted our pictures, which is expected, but he also untagged me from photos, deleted my comments from his page and went as far as unliking my photos/deleting his comments from my Instagram as well.” This was when she noticed that a producer from the Bachelorette had started following Peter’s Insta feed, but she didn’t think anything of that at the time.
There are no photos of Calee left on Peter's social media.
5. Revelation
All the pieces fell into place when the list of Bachelorette contestants came out, Calee says. “I found out the day he began filming the show, when the list of contestants was released. My cousin saw it and sent it to me. I was shocked and I immediately knew that the show was the reason he broke up with me. Everything that made zero sense before, now made complete sense.” She went on tor say that Peter had never mentioned interviewing for the show, even though he knew she was a fan of the franchise. He even pointed out the Bachelor mansion to Calee during a trip to LA.
Calee confronted Peter about the show once she realized what was happening, but she never got a response. She told ET, “When I found out about the show, I texted him and told him that he owed me an explanation, but I never heard a word back. That's the most shocking part of all... I thought he would've at least had enough decency to apologize.”
6. Speaking out
Calee says she didn’t make the decision to speak out lightly. She decided to say something because she has been watching the season and claims that many of the things Peter has been saying to Hannah are also things he said to her. And knowing that he ended what she saw as a good relationship for the chance to go on the show, she questions his motives, saying: “He definitely didn't go on the show for the right reasons. I believe he went on it for the chance at fame, and he got what he wanted.”
Peter hasn't commented on the revelations.
But Calee only has good things to say about Hannah. When ET asked what message she'd send The Bachelorette, she said: “You seem like an awesome woman. I hope you made the right choice and found your Prince Charming!"
