David Sparks Arrested In Connection With Murder Of Kentucky Mom Savannah Spurlock — Whose Body Was Just Found
They found human remains buried at his home.
Savannah Spurlock was a mother of four who had just given birth to twins in December. On January 4th, she went missing after leaving a bar in Lexington called “The Other Bar” with three men. Her last known location was the home of David Sparks in Garrard County, some 40 miles from the bar. Sparks, one of the three men Spurlock was with that night at the bar, was arrested and now faces charges of abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence.
What else is there to know? Who is David Sparks?
1. According to Richmond police, she left her purse and coat in her car.
Her car was still in Lexington. Richmond police also confirmed that she made it to the Sparks’ residence, to which the men responded that she left on foot in the morning. Ellen Spurlock, Savannah’s mom, wasn’t satisfied with that answer. “I think the guys she was with know more than they are saying,” she said. “Their story doesn’t make sense. She left with no money, no car, no coat, no phone in a different county than where she lives. It’s not like her.”
2. She went to the bar with a friend.
While at the bar, Spurlock’s friend left because the two got into an argument. Her mother said she called her at about 2:30 a.m. “I was like, ‘Where are you at? You should be home by now,’” Ellen Spurlock said. “I guess she didn’t like my tone of voice and she hung up. She FaceTimed me right back from a car, and she said, ‘Everything is fine. I’m just having fun with friends. I promise I will be home later this morning.’ She seemed fine to me. She didn’t seem upset or under duress. She was coherent. Whenever she says she’s going to do something, she does it. She’s very responsible.”
3. Investigators were tipped off after someone noticed a foul smell coming from Spark’s residence.
Upon investigation, human remains as well as other pieces of evidence related to the case were found in Sparks’ home. The remains are being taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office, but they have yet to be officially identified as Spurlock’s because they are heavily decomposed.
4. Spurlock was seen entering Sparks’ home, but not leaving.
LEX 18, the television station for Lexington, Kentucky, reported that Savannah was seen on a neighbor’s surveillance video walking into a home that Sparks had rented in Lancaster the night she vanished. She wasn’t seen walking out of it, though. Savannah’s aunt, Lisa Thoma, posted a video on Facebook begging for her niece’s return and thanking everyone for their prayers. (Though according to LEX 18, some swindlers have used this to extort the family for money in exchange for information about Savannah. One message read, “Send us 8 Bitcoin to below address. Now be smart or never see her again. you have 12 hours.”
Absolutely horrible. I hope they bring Savannah and her family justice.
