Chantel's Marriage To Pedro Was Allegedly A Set-Up On '90-Day Fiancé
That would put a whole new spin on things.
TLC Whoa! I mean, we know that Chantel Everett and Pedro Jimeno's marriage isn't super-solid or anything — I mean they were on 90 Day Fiancé, 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, and now The Family Chantel — but we didn't think the whole thing was a fake! But that is exactly what Pedro and Chantel's friend Obed Corporan is hinting at. Chantel and Pedro went to the Dominican Republic to spend some time with Pedro's family and friends. While there, Chantel met up with their mutual friend Obed and he had some beans to spill about how Pedro may not have had the best of intentions when he said "I Do" to Chantel. Was Chantel's marriage to Pedro a set-up on 90-Day Fiancé?
1. What is going on?
When Chantel met up with Obed, he felt he had to tell her that Pedro's family set the whole thing up. They arranged for Pedro to meet Chantel — or, not just Chantel, but an American woman so that he could marry her and get a Green Card. Chantel asked Obed who did this and Obed said his family, but come on, we all know he meant Pedro's mom Lidia.
2. Flashback
Back on season four of 90 Day Fiancé, Chantel explained that she and Pedro met through a mutual friend because she wanted to learn Spanish and he wanted to learn English. The two began messaging each other on Facebook and their friendship turned into a romance. They dated long-distance for awhile and then she went to the Dominican Republic to meet him. He greeted her with a kiss when she got off the plane and the rest is reality TV history.
3. His mother
A couple weeks ago, we told you about Pedro's mom Lidia Jimeno. Remember, on a previous epsiode, Chantel's mom claimed to have found a website that Pedro's mother allegedly used to run that "finds stupid Americans to match with a person on the island in order to harvest the American dollar." Fans of the series found the now-deleted website associated with Lidia, but it appears to have been an online legal services business. Still. Where there's smoke and all, you know?
4. Chantel's family
For what it's worth, Chantel's family has long believed that Pedro is using Chantel to get a green card. They think his mother groomed him to find an American wife so he could send money back to her in the Dominican Republic.
5. Only time will tell
As far as Obed's confession and Chantel's family suspicions go, only time will tell. If Pedro is using Chantel and/or if the marriage was a set up, it'll surely be revealed in front of cameras on The Family Chantel.
