Who Is Nicole Boxer? New Details On Tony Rodham's Ex-Wife And Barbara Boxer's Daughter
Talk about a political dynasty!
Hillary Clinton’s brother, Tony Rodham, died last week. He left behind his wife, Megan, and three children named Zach, Simon, and Fiona. But this article isn’t about Tony—it’s about his ex-wife, the daughter of former California senator Barbara Boxer and award-winning documentary filmmaker, Nicole Boxer.
Who is she that she warrants her own article? Who is Nicole Boxer?
1. She’s the daughter of Barbara Boxer, senator of California from 1993 to 2017
Just for some background on this kick butt family, Barbara Boxer was a strong advocate for families, children, consumers, the environment and California in general. She also teamed up with her daughter Nicole on a podcast called “Fight Back with Barbara Boxer” which focuses on current political issues.
2. She’s a Peabody and Emmy-award winning documentary filmmaker
Nicole has worked on a whole host of things in the film world, from documentaries to reality TV to feature films. She was the executive producer of The Invisible War, the true crime/drama that was nominated for an Oscar. She was the consulting producer for the TV shows Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution and Top Chef. She also worked on The Hunting Ground, 14 Women, The Party’s Not Over, Climate Refugees, Mojados, and Party’s Not Over.
Her directorial debut was How I Got Over, the 2014 drama-documentary that was nominated for the International Documentary Association’s HUMANITUS Award.
She’s also a co-host of "The Boxer Podcast!"
3. She married Tony in 1994 after meeting him at a party in New York in 1992
At the time, Bill Clinton was the president. Their wedding was the first one to take place at the White House since 1971. It was held in the lovely Rose Garden.
4. They then divorced in 2001
In 1995, though, they had a son, Zachary. There were rumors of a custody dispute but Tony quelled them in a CNN interview. I imagine all is fine now because she’s currently happily married to Kevin Keegan!
