Gladys Knight won third place as the Bee, T-Pain won the entire competition as the Monster, and the Peacock, who was runner-up, was revealed to be none other than Donny Osmond!
As a teen idol growing up, Osmond was constantly in the spotlight. Though he initially gained fame as one-fifth of the group the Osmonds, which included him and his four older brothers, he eventually went solo. He and his sister, Marie Osmond, also had their own variety show called Donny & Marie, and even did a talk show together.
He’s released dozens of albums and won the 2009 season of Dancing with the Stars. But though he was regarded as a sex symbol in the 1970s, there’s always been one woman by his side: his wife.
Just who is Donny Osmond’s wife? Here are six things to know about Debbie Osmond, her relationship with her husband, and their life together.
1. She was an actress.
Though she’s never outshone her husband, Debbie was in the movie The Fir Tree, and has appeared on Rachael Ray, Dancing with the Stars (but not as a contestant), and Martha.
2. They’ve known each other since they were teenagers.
In a very adorable and sweet anniversary Facebook post, Donny revealed how the two met. Before they took up together, she was dating his older brother Jay. They initially met at a concert where Debbie was Jay’s date. It wasn’t until she was 18 that Donny was able to woo her.
3. His dad didn’t approve.
According to Donny, his father didn’t approve of the relationship because he thought it would hurt his career. “While the world knew me as a teen idol, and the Osmonds fame was at its height, I began secretly dating Debbie Glenn. By the time I was 19, I knew I was in love and had to do something right for me. When I told my dad, he said: ‘Well, there goes your career, but this is ushering in your personal life,’” he recalled.
However, “My dad was right about my career after I got married. But Debbie is an amazing person to be with. If I hadn’t married her, I’d have been a mess. Now I had someone who understood me and with whom I could build a future together,” he concluded.
4. They married shortly afterward.
The couple wed in 1978 and have now been married for 40 years! They wed in the Salt Lake Temple in Utah.
5. They have five children.
Together, the Osmonds have five sons: Donald Jr., Jeremy, Brandon, Christopher, and Joshua. They're also grandparents to eight grandkids.
6. They are religious.
The family are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Donny has said, “Our religion teaches that we are bonded together in eternity, so relationships are very respectful. We value kindness and forgiveness. Debbie and I are religious but not over-fanatical, so we have a firm respect for deity, which holds true in our home.”
