Who Is Marty Caffrey? New Details On Danielle Staub's Ex-Husband (And Details About Their Divorce)
They finalized their divorce just last week.
We all love a good Bravolebrity relationship, especially when they’re from the Real Housewives franchises. Tamra and Eddie Judge, Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker, Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin — these are all couples fans can aspire to become in their own partnerships.
And we thought that perhaps we could add Danielle Staub and Marty Caffrey to this lis but unfortunately, their short-lived marriage ended in a tumultuous divorce.
Who is Marty Caffrey? Though we were introduced to him as Danielle’s boyfriend on Real Housewives of New Jersey, Caffrey is a businessman who manages investments. His net worth is unknown, but we were shown that he enjoys the same type of lavish lifestyle Danielle does.
The now-exes began dating in April 2016 and, on the show, we saw the exact moment that Caffrey proposed to her, with some of her fellow co-stars as witnesses. After their engagement, the two tied the knot in May 2018 on a beach in the Bahamas. Her bridesmaids included Melissa Gorga, Teresa Giudice, and Margaret Josephs, as well as her daughters, Christine and Jillian.
But in August, only three months after getting married, the couple announced they were filing for divorce. In the months that followed, things became increasingly hostile. Each were granted a restraining order against the other, and Jillian and Christine were also awarded a 10-day restraining order against Caffrey for “emotional torment.”
Caffrey was removed from the home. He also put their shared home on the market without telling Danielle, and she filed a counterclaim, alleging verbal and physical abuse.
Even before the couple broke up, her castmates say they saw signs that their relationship was headed for trouble. She revealed that Caffrey’s kids hated her, and that the couple was never able to overcome the problems in their blended family.
In October, Danielle said, “He doesn’t like me and he doesn’t like my children. My kids have never been anything but respectful and lovely towards him even though he hasn’t been the same towards their mom. They don’t have to like him, but they respected him... I wish that I would have received the same from his children. They have a perception of me from being on TV and I never got a chance to break them of that.”
But just last week, things finally came to a close and their divorce has been finalized. Both appeared in court on February 21st in Bergen County, NJ. The terms of their divorce include Danielle vacating the home unless she decides to buy it; in this case, Caffrey will leave. Danielle revealed soon after that she would be buying the home.
A representative for Danielle said she’s happy the divorce is over, saying, “Danielle is very much looking forward to moving on to the next chapter of her life and is excited to see what that will look like. She is incredibly grateful for all the support she has received from her children, family and friends.”
Caffrey also released a statement:
“Now that the divorce is final, I feel great relief as well as sadness. Relief comes as I have finally reached the end of the twisted road I was dragged down. I am looking forward to moving on in life with my supportive and loving family and friends around me. However, Danielle and I did fall in love, and it is sad to part from each other this way after experiencing something special together.”
Looking back on our relationship, it is hard to reconcile that the camera and the show were more important to her than her relationship was with me. I do think the show led to the destruction of our relationship. I would caution any man who contemplates getting involved with a ‘real housewife’ as I think it takes a special kind of person to expose their private lives in this way and not have it not cause problems. However, I have no regrets about supporting Danielle, and vigorously defending her throughout the last two seasons of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. I bear her no ill will, and I wish her the best in everything she does.”
Now that Danielle, who was famous for “being engaged 19 times,” has ended her third marriage, will she ever walk down the aisle again?
