He was engaged to a professional soccer player named Jackie Bruno just months before he met and married Lambert. He also had gotten another woman — not his then-fiancé — pregnant. That woman, Kaihla Rettinger, gave birth to Brendan McLoughlin's son just three days after the NYPD cop met Miranda Lambert. Jackie Bruno's mother told Us Weekly that Rettinger called her daughter to tell her she was pregnant with McLoughlin's baby. At the time, Jackie had just returned from playing soccer in Sweden. Brendan McLoughlin might not want to cross his baby mama. The 27-year-old is an attorney in New York City. Her first job after law school was with the Macklenburg County Public Defender's Office in Charlotte, North Carolina. Currently, she works for the Global X Management Company as a Legal and Compliance Associate. She has been in this job since the fall of 2016.

Kaihla attended Colorado's Sacred Heart University for her undergraduate degree. She got her bachelor's in criminal justice in 2013. Kaihla Rettinger grew up in the Queens neighbohood of Bayside, New York. She reportedly lived with Brendan McLoughlin in Staten Island. In fact, when she reached out to Jackie Bruno to tell her she was pregnant, she reportedly told her she had been living with McLoughlin and his family.

Brendan McLoughlin met Miranda Lambert when she performed on Good Morning America on November 2, 2018. Three days later, Kaihla Rettinger gave birth to a son. Neither Rettinger or McLoughlin have commented publicly on when their relationship ended but People reported that the couple spent Thanksgiving together. A source close to McLoughlin told the magazin that they suspected he was with Rettinger and Lambert at the same time as he has a history of cheating. Lambert and McLoughlin got married in January.

She never felt ready to have children until she met Brendan and now she’s excited to be a stepmom. She even says it’s great practice for when she has a baby.”
