We have all the details about DJ Khaled's weight loss before/after below.
1. He reached his goal weight.
Cameras documented the moment DJ Khaled stepped on the scale at 250 pounds.
"When you get to your goal—my goal was 250. It inspired me. I knew I was close," he explained of his drive to stay committed to the program.
WW congratulated Khaled on their Instagram account as well.
"It's coming off!" the WW Instagram account read. "Congratulations #WWAmbassador @DJKhaled, on reaching your 1st milestone, - 43 lbs GONE! We look forward to ANOTHER ONE on your journey with #WW!"
2. He's not shy in sharing how he lost the weight.
So how did he do it? The musician told People what he eats on the program.
"During the day I eat foods that are low in points, and then for dinner, if I know I have a dinner meeting I save up my points so I can enjoy everything that I want to eat. And once I started that system, it became a lifestyle for me,” he says. “Some days I eat a cheeseburger, some days I eat chicken stew. Somedays I eat salad, and on New Year’s Day, I ate fried chicken. But I’m still within my points system.”
“I stuck to the point system to a T. And you know how every new year is. The new year is always a motivation to start the year off right,” he told People. “And November and December I got to be home, I wasn’t on the road, I got to be with my family recording my new album, and I enjoyed it with my queen [wife Nicole Tuck] and my son [Asahd, 2] every day, and I was dedicated.”
3. His weight loss journey hasn't been easy.
He recently shared that it's been a challenging journey, with some ups and downs.
"New year, new goals, new blessings. I've been sharing my @WW journey for a year now and real talk there's been major wins but also some tough times… but I'm COMMITTED. AND IT'S COMING OFF," he said a few weeks ago.
Khaled recently shared an image of himself on Instagram, showing off a slimmer figure with a message to his followers to let them know he's dropped a few shirt sizes.
"OH YEAH DONT ACT LIKE YOU DONT SEE THAT WEIGHT COMING OFF ! Currently wearing a 2 x tee," he wrote on another Instagram post.
4. He wants to lose weight for his son.
When Khaled became an ambassador in January 2018, he revealed his ultimate reason for his lifestyle change — his son.
"Weight Watchers is all about being great and being your best self. My son is my love, my life, and I need to be great for him," he said. "To be great is to be healthy; to be healthy means a shift in my lifestyle, and the new WW Freestyle program is all about healthier habits for my life. The WW program and community is my partner in this process to greatness, and I'm grateful for what's to come and to share my journey with you all."
Since Khaled joined Weight Watchers last January, he’s been speaking candidly about how the program has given him the freedom and flexibility to make healthier choices while keeping up with his busy lifestyle. He said his goal is to build a healthier lifestyle, and not just shed pounds quickly.
"I'm not in any race to get rid of weight," he said in another Instagram post. "I just want to make sure I stay super focused and continue at being healthy."
“Man. Weight Watchers is going good,” Khaled told Page Six last February. "The freestyle program is doing real big. It’s a real lifestyle because all you have to do is not go over your point [total]. And there are so many zero points [foods] in case you get hungry. I got the freestyle dance."
5. He chose Weight Watchers for a good reason.
Khaled has said he’s not "losing" weight though — he’s getting rid of the extra weight for good.
"I got rid of – I don’t lose," Khaled told Page Six. "All I do is win – you know what I mean.”
In September, Weight Watchers announced in a press release that it changed their name to WW to reflect the next stage of the company's evolution to focus on overall health and wellness. Their new tagline, "Wellness that Works.™" will now be used instead to “reflect the company's heritage and overall approach to health and wellbeing of inspiring powerful habits rooted in science.”
The WW system assigns points to different foods, so you don't have to count calories or stick to one regimented diet. Stay within your points limit and you’ll likely see the weight begin to drop. While other diets may see people gain the weight back later, the WW system may be one of the few plans to actually stick. Khaled has shared his WW journey on social media with supportive messages for others who may be trying to lose weight as well, and perhaps to keep himself accountable.
"Let me guess you don’t see it coming off ! Do you believe? I do ! TO SUCCEED YOU MUST BELIVE ! I WANT IT OFF !!!!!!" he shared.
