The multi-talented 50 year old told reporters at Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour that “I just recently found a brilliant new love.”
She has started dating Jeff Scult who founded the clothing line One Golden Thread. But the media is discovering that there may be more to Scult than meets the eye.
Who is Jeff Scult and does Ricki know everything? Read on for more.
1. Grief
In 2017, Ricki Lake announced that her ex-husband Christian Evans had taken his own life. Evans suffered from mental illness that had led to their 2015 divorce. They remained involved with one another until 2016. At the time of his death, Lake said, “I have to spread the word about recognizing this disorder and getting treatment as soon as possible. Christian didn’t want to be labeled as bipolar, but he admitted he was in the note he left. That was him finally owning it. That was him giving me permission to tell his story.”
2. Masked singer
In her introduction on The Masked Singer, Lake alluded to past tragedy and talked about wanting to spread her wings again. While she says she only started seeing Scult three and a half months ago, perhaps she was alluding to being ready to move on from her loss.
3. One Golden Thread
Scult is the founder of One Golden Thread, a casual fashion company with a sustainability mission. He describes it as, “One Golden Thread was formally founded in 2016 as a public benefit company with the mission to weave human connection through the simple premise that we are already golden; in my personal experience, I see it as this gold inside us that unites us. I am grateful for those who helped me discover this simple truth.”
4. “Consculting”
Scult now operating a consulting — or “Consculting” — business working with brands. He says, “I work with you to excavate the gold of your brand expression. I am a word guy, and idea & strategy man to support you to see past blind spots to express your brand and ignite your ideas.”
5. Violence
Radar Online revealed that Scult was involved in a 2009 assault case — but that he was the victim not the assailant. Court papers show that Scult was suing an unknown person for $7500 in damages after a physical altercation. He claimed the money was necessary for “economic recovery from unprovoked physical assault plus punitive damages from pain and suffering.” Furthermore, he said he suffered “professional humiliation due to multiple work colleagues and clients being present.” The case was ultimately dismissed.
Regardless of Scult's past, Ricki Lake says, “he’s making me really happy.”
