Why Did Jeff Lewis And Gage Edward Break Up? New Details About The 'Flipping Out' Stars' Split
Wow.
Reality TV and house flipping show stars Jeff Lewis, 48, and his boyfriend Gage Edward, 33, have ended their 10-year relationship. They announced their split in early February.
The pair share custody of 2-year-old Monroe who was born in 2016 through a surrogate whose pregnancy journey was shared on the couple’s Bravo TV show “Flipping Out.” Now it has come to light that since the couple’s split Edward has gone on a date and Lewis is not happy, calling the mystery man a “homewrecker."
Lewis said on his Sirius XM radio show “Jeff Lewis Live!” that he uncovered his ex’s date with another man only one week after they broke up due to his investigation “skills.” He learned that they had initially met at the gym a while before the pair broke up. Edward and his possible new man went on a dinner date to the popular California restaurant Mastro’s Steakhouse in Beverly Hills which is famous for lots of celebrities and paparazzi photos.
The breakup was coming sooner or later, Lewis told People magazine. The pair had been living in separate rooms within their house for a year before they officially called quits. Edward moved out into a hotel away from Lewis and his daughter Monroe, which led Lewis to state that he is considering himself a “single dad”.
Lewis explained that he knew the man who Edward went on a date with because he has been in Edward’s “ear” for a long time and “took advantage of a vulnerable situation” US Weekly reported. The source also said that Lewis confronted Edward about the date, and Edward explained that his therapist thought the date was good for him.
The pair has had issues throughout their 10 years of being together. While many of their fights have been seen on their reality house flipping show, many were not.
Lewis said previously that he often thought about his divorce and even planned it out.
“I mean, I go real specific, like I’m gonna live here and he’s gonna live here, I’m gonna see the baby here and he’s gonna see the baby here” he told People magazine.
Apart from the couple’s history with separation and arguments, they are also dealing with being sued by their surrogate for reportedly saying commenting about her body on camera. She's also suing Bravo for exposing her privates during the birth of their daughter Monroe without her consent.
“If I was a surrogate, and I had known there was going to be an audience, I probably would have waxed” was one comment Lewis said during the interview that is being called into question by the lawsuit. He said that he is “devastated” and thought it was a “money grab” according to E! News.
The court date is set for a trial in 2019 and season 11 of "Flipping Out" is up in the air with speculation that a new season will air on Netflix instead of Bravo.
