Who Is Ibraheem Alkhairallah? New Details On The Comic From 'Comedians Of The World' On Netflix
He's a businessman and actor too.
With Comedians of the World on Netflix receiving such amazing reviews, it’s time we make the couch our new home for the next few days while we binge-watch every comic. The series features 30-minute stand-up specials from 47 comedians, from 13 regions around the globe, in eight different languages. And thanks to the comedy stylings of funny people from countries like Germany, Canada, Australia, and India (just to name a few), we can learn a lot about the unique experiences each comic has gone through.
Luckily, Netflix offers subtitles for all of the specials that weren’t performed in English, so now you have no excuses to not check out Ibraheem Alkhairallah. Hailing from Saudi Arabia, Alkhairallah riffs on modern technology and his experiences growing up in Saudi Arabia. But just who is Ibraheem Alkhairallah? Here are six things to know about how he got his start, what makes him laugh, and his personal life.
1. He’s from Saudi Arabia.
Considering this area of the world, it’s not often that we see comedians coming out of the woodwork. But Alkhairallah is one of four comics from the Middle East to be featured in this series!
2. He’s always wanted to do comedy.
Though he was originally a theater performer and was interested in a career in business, he eventually realized that comedy was his true calling.
“When my brother showed me DVDs of specials, I realized that was what I wanted to do. I love [George] Carlin; he’s a philosopher as well. If you want to break the ice with anybody, it is with jokes. If you make people laugh they want to be your friend. That is what I think and why I hope people laugh with me,” he said in an interview with Khaleej Times.
3. And he eventually made a name for himself.
He got his start in 2009 when he started doing stand-up. Since then, he’s performed in Saudi Arabia and internationally. He’s performed with fellow comedians Dean Obiedallah, Aron Kader, Sugar Sami, Wonho Chung, Tariq Alali, and Gabriel Iglesias.
4. He’s also an actor.
Alkhairallah has appeared in From A to B, Kafil, and Wasati. He was also a participant in Arabs Got Talent, making it to the semi-finals.
5. And he’s a businessman, too.
He’s currently the creative director of Telfaz11, a Saudi Arabia-based digital media company that is “committed to conceptualizing and producing entertaining and creative online content through our YouTube partnership as well as influence social trends and showcase the richness of our culture.”
6. He’s grateful to Netflix.
According to him, Netflix alone can provide a lot of exposure and increase his audience. He said, “When Netflix chose certain comedians, I was super-happy to be selected. I think it gives us more reach, views and the show will be translated into more languages so that’s also another opportunity.”
