How Did Kristoff St. John Die? New Details About 'The Young & The Restless' Star’s Sudden Death
His death comes four years after his son's suicide.
Longtime "The Young & The Restless" star Kristoff St. John has died at age 52.
St. John was found dead on Sunday after a friend found his body in his Woodland Hills home, according to TMZ. Police and paramedics responded to the scene around 2:05 p.m. when the friend called 911 about a possible alcohol overdose. Foul play is not suspected in the actor's death. A source told the outlet that alcohol may have been involved.
"Sadly we can confirm," said his attorney, Mark Geragos, in an email.
The Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner-Coroner Public Information Officer Sarah Ardalani told USA Today that St. Johns was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:02 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
According to TMZ, St. John was treated for depression earlier this month and was released just before his death. A source close to the Y&R star revealed to the outlet that he had checked himself into the UCLA Medical Center in January for depression issues and was recently released. His depression was partially linked to his son's 2014 suicide, the source added.
Geragos tweeted about St. John's passing, highlighting his strength and impact on others during his life.
"Few men had the unique strength, courage & sensitivity that @kristoffstjohn1 lived every single minute of every day. He impacted everyone he met and millions who he inspired and in turn admired him. On behalf of @MiaStJohnBoxer & @TheStJohnFamily thank you for all of your love," he tweeted.
St. John's fiance, model Kseniya Mikhaleva, reacted to his death on Instagram.

"So early... so early," she wrote on her Instagram story, followed by a crying face and heart emojis.
"How did it happen ??? How ??? Why did you leave so early ???? and left me alone ..... " she captioned a heartbreaking photo of herself and St. John.
The pair got engaged just five months ago.
Many of St. John's Y&R co-stars, including Eileen Davidson and Yvette Brown, have posted about his passing.
Davidson issued a statement to PEOPLE regarding his death:
“An infinite number of hearts are broken because of the passing of Kristoff St. John,” Eileen, 59, wrote. “Kristoff was a loving kind generous sweet hilarious gifted human. He left an indelible mark on all who were blessed to know him. I am so grateful to have been able to work with him and laugh with him. My deepest condolences go out to his family and especially his children, who I know he loves so much.”
Brown posted a lengthy tribute to St. John on Instagram, expressing her heartbreak after losing a dear friend.
St, John played Neil Winters on the famed CBS soap opera since 1991, a role that earned him 10 NAACP Image Awards and nine Daytime Emmy Award nominations.
He also had starred in "Charlie & Company" and appeared in "The Bad News Bears," "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper," "Diagnosis Murder," "Arli$$," "The Jamie Foxx Show," "Martin," "Living Single,"and "The San Pedro Beach Bums."
St. John's life outside of Hollywood rivaled that of a soap opera, riddled with pain and drama.
In 2014, St. John's 24-year-old son Julian took his own life while receiving mental health care at La Casa Psychiatric Health Facility in Long Beach, California. Following their son's death, St. John and his ex-wife, Mia St. John, 52, founded the El Sabor es Poder (Knowledge is Power) Foundation in an effort to battle mental illness.
Three years later, near the anniversary of his son's death, St. John threatened to shoot himself and was placed on a 72-hour hold for a psychiatric evaluation.
The award-winning actor tweeted about his son's suicide just two weeks before he was found dead.
"Grieving the loss of a child is a process. It begins on the day your child passes, and ends the day the parent joins them," a user posted, to which St. Johns responded, "Never a truer word was spoken. Thanks for posting this."
Mia addressed St. John's death Monday in a since-deleted tweet, according to TMZ.
“THAT HOSPITAL KILLED OUR SON @TheArtofJulian THEN MY HUSBAND @kristoffstjohn1 THATS WHAT HAPPENED! THEY KILLED MY FAMILY," she tweeted before removing the post.
