Twitter Successful singer Lionel Richie's famous daughters, Nicole and Sofia Richie, are certainly no strangers to the public eye. However, it's a different member of the Richie clan that's currently been making headlines.
Richie's only son, Miles Richie, was detained this past weekend for battery and a bomb threat at London's Heathrow airport. Although Richie may be the least recognizable of his famous family's children, he's not exactly a new face to the spotlight.
Aside from his recent scuffle with the law, Richie has a modeling career and a few celebrity friends of his own. So who is Miles Richie?
Here are some details about Lionel Richie's son.
1. He's the middle child of his family.
The 24-year-old model is the middle of his father's three children. Nicole is the oldest at 37, and 20-year-old Sophia is the youngest. Richie appears to be very close with his family and has even acknowledged his sisters and father for helping him in his professional life as well. “My dad suffered from really bad anxiety, so I get good advice from him when it comes to that,” he said.
2. Richie is a tattoo fanatic.
He's practically covered in tattoos, many of which are tributes to his family. Richie has even commented on the amount of time he's spent actually getting tattooed. “I don’t really count it by [number of] tattoos, because they’re all so big. I probably have 150 to 175 hours of tattooing,” he explained.
3. He's recently become a fixture in the modeling world.
Richie made his runway debut at New York Fashion Week in February 2018 with designer Philipp Plein's collection. He had a contract with IMG models at the time. Sofia Richie walked the runway for the same designer as her brother had during NYFW just a year before in February 2017.
In September 2018, Richie signed with another big modeling agency, Wilhelmina.
Richie seems to be passionate about his career in the modeling world and the opportunity he gets to work with his sister, Sofia. After first signing with Wilhelmina, Richie revealed his excitement for getting to work with them. "Wilhelmina is just the best energy. That’s why I get along with them so well: they understand me and the vibe that I want to put out there in the world, and what I’d like to get involved in. I’ve only been with them for a couple of weeks now, and I already have so many things coming up, and [with] all of these brands I’ve always wanted to work with.”
Richie also spoke about collaborating with Sofia. "I’m actually doing that [campaign] with my sister [Sofia Richie] — it’s going to be the first time we’ll have done something together, so I’m really amped on that.”
4. He reportedly dated Kylie Jenner.
In 2014, Richie was rumored to have been involved with the youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner sisters. Photos were caught of the two together in a car, looking particularly close. Richie had also posted a photo to his Instagram a few months earlier that included Jenner.
However, the pair's association is probably better known by that infamous tattoo controversy in May 2014. Richie was at a recording studio with Jenner, her sister Khloe Kardashian, and French Montana and was getting tattooed by John Petro. The incident gained public attention after Jenner was taped "helping" Petro tattoo Richie. Jenner was just 16 at the time and the LA County of Public Health states that only those over 18 years of age are allowed to administer tattoos. And for anyone curious to know what the tattoo was, it was Kylie Jenner's initials.
5. Richie loves to box.
The model's other great passion seems to be boxing. He has spoken out many times on his love of the sport.
Richie once revealed that he did it six days a week. "It's very calming for me and allows me to release stress. Boxing is something you can slowly but surely progress at, which I absolutely love." he stated.
In another interview in 2018, Richie also divulged his favorite professional boxer. "My favorite boxer would be Anthony Joshua; my favorite personality would be Conor McGregor; my favorite up-and-comer is The Style Bender—I think he’ll be the next champion of the UFC."
6. Richie was recently arrested for battery and an alleged bomb threat.
On Saturday, January 19, Richie stirred controversy once again after being detained at Heathrow airport in London. After not being let on to a flight that he was attempting to catch, Richie had become mad and reportedly claimed that he had a bomb and that he would detonate it if he couldn't get onto the plane.
Police soon showed up after Richie reputedly assaulted a security guard and took the model into custody. Richie wasn't booked or charged, but he did receive a caution, which he accepted and was later released. \
