The Time Period Your Zodiac Sign Belongs In Based On Your Past Life
We all feel a little out of place sometimes.
People always say that they feel like they were born in the wrong era. But what does that mean, really? What if you were born in the right era, but because of a past life you feel close to a time that you once lived in and have to finish learning from in the here and now.
There are often criticisms to that statement where others point out that living in another time would mean that the progress made for those of different races, sexual orientations, religions, genders, etc. would be erased.
Furthermore, the sentiment has been deemed one of privilege because white men have been favored throughout history. I would like to argue that people are often referencing the mood of an era rather than its political climate. However, I agree that there is naivety to be found in the concept.
We have a long way to go before we reach true equality and even when we do, the debt we have to pay to those we wronged for so long will never be paid. But that is not what this article is. This is simply a fun way to relate to your zodiac sign and to feel a little less alone.
It’s easy to feel trapped in the day to day. Especially with social media, everything wrong with the world is made public. It makes sense to want to return to live at a time or in a place when you didn’t know so much.
Each decade has a certain vibe. For example, the 1970’s are notorious for bring relaxed. With Woodstock and the age of the peace sign, some zodiac signs might crave that sort of simplicity rather than the overly fast paced world we live in today.
While those growing up in the 1970’s had their own pressures to deal with, I am going to be choosing the core value of each generation to compile this list and building a narrative around each zodiac sign hypothetically living there. There is no time range as I felt it unfair to limit the list to one particular century.
Per astrology, here is what time period you may feel like you should have been born into, by your zodiac sign's horoscope date.
ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries are impulsive and rebellious. They demand to be ahead of the curve which is why they would most fit in the 1960's. According to USnews contributor Kenneth T. Walsh (2010), it was the era of "flower children and assassins, idealism and alienation, rebellion and backlash". This perfectly encapsulates what it means to be an Aries; constant chaos and challenge while always coming out on top.
TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus are stubborn and at times uncompromising which is why they most fit in the 2010's. We live in the era of political polarization and technological advancements. Everyone is fiercely determined to be unapologetically themselves which is what a Taurus firmly believes in. A Taurus will fight for what they think is right and remain steady while the world around them shifts.
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
Geminis belong in the Information Age. Excellent communicators, the 1990's are where we see the steady incline of computer storage and social media. Finding new ways to speak with those we love, Geminis are eager to form stronger relationships. Furthermore, with "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana, "Creep" by Radiohead, and endless others, the music industry was transformed as genres were shown in new lights. Geminis love to talk but they also love to let other speak for them.
CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancers feel and deep and spiritual connection to those they meet as well as the world around them. Therefore, they fit into the 1800's during the Romantic Era. During this time, Romanic poetry grappled with nature, unadulterated sadness, divinity, the unknown, and the powerful force of one's emotions.
William Wordsworth wrote during this time that "I have said before that poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin in emotion recollected in tranquility". This is the spirit that a Cancer embodies.
LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Leos embody the roaring 20's. During a time when everyone wanted to be the center of attention, Leos would thrive in the competitive space. After the war, women were embracing their sexuality, African Americans were making their voices heard, and until the Great Depression, it was a time of partying and living large.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Virgos belong in the Age of Reason. Always looking for balance, this world focused on finding answers. The 1700's were a part of the Enlightenment. Seeking out larger truths, about themselves and the universe, is representative of how Virgos think on a day to day basis. They are highly observant and think outside of themselves.
LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
Libras belong in the 1950's, just after World War 2. This was an era of decision and peace. Like Libras, this era was diplomatic to ensure another war didn't break out. The world was unified in fear and practiced peace, if only briefly.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpios belong in the 1870's, just at the beginning of the Impressionist movement. Paintings were frenzied and impassioned, just like Scorpios. Scorpios feel exaggerated emotions and express them to their fullest extent. Like artists, they struggle to process their depth.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
Sagittarius belong in the 1870's during the Realism movement. Realism showed a new side to the familiar. Sagittarius are curious and want to know people's true intentions. They will dig deep to find answers that are honest and genuine.
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorns were meant to be in the Victorian Age, particularly within the 1850's. During this time, family was highly regarded. It was a period of control, where status mattered and everyone thrived off of structure. Capricorns, masters of tradition, would fit in quite well within this time period.
AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
Aquarius belong in the Scientific Revolution during the 1600's. There is nothing an Aquarius loves more than a conversation with intellectual backing. The Scientific Revolution brought about the telescope, calculus, the 3 laws of motion, etc. People were thinking about the world in a broader context which is exactly how an Aquarius lives everyday; seeking out the bigger picture.
PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
Pisces belong in the Renaissance, particularly the 1500's. The 1500's was during Da Vinci's time. It was a period of expression through introspection. Pisces are very connected to the world around them as were those during the Renaissance. They painted stream of consciousness and produced beautiful works.
