How Did Beverly McClellan Die? Fans of The Voice are saddened by the news that Beverly McClellan has died of cancer. The singer appeared on the first season of the hit talent competition and finished in 4th place after being coached by Christina Aguilera.
At the time of her death, McClellan was living California with her wife Monique and their daughter Daniella. She was 49 years old.

1. Southern
McClellan was born in Tennessee and raised in Virginia. She went to college in Florida and stayed down there, working on her musical career before she auditioned for The Voice. She was a well-known performer in the Florida Keys.
2. Early talent
She was only 4 years old when she first started to learn music. Her first instrument was piano. She later went on to play guitar, trumpet, French horn, mandolin, ukulele, bass guitar, djembe and other percussion instruments. Despite her background as an instrumentalist, she didn't begin seriously singing until she was 24 years old.
3. Bands
McClellan's first band was a duo called Uncommon Ground, where she performed with Tami Gordon. She worked with singer and songwriter Robyn Keys before forming her own bands called DJ's Daughter. Eventually, she struck out as a solo artist before joining a band called Swoop out of Ft. Lauderdale.
4. The Voice
While McClellan was in the studio recording an album in 2011, a producer suggested she audition for The Voice. Her performance of Piece of My Heart made both Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine turn around and she was ultimately coached by Christina. She took 4th place that season.
5. Cancer
McClellan continued to write and perform music as an independent artist until her diagnosis with stage 3 endometrial cancer in March 2018. Even during the early phases of treatment she was optimistic about recoding a new album, according to her GoFundMe page.
6. Final days
As recently as late October, Beverly and her wife Monique were hopeful that a new treatment protocol would be effectively. Tragically, her condition deteriorated and she passed away, surrounded by loved ones on October 29.
