5 Shy Zodiac Signs Who Consider Their Words Before They Speak
They don't think their shyness is an issue, even if the people around them do.
getty The words shy and introverted are often used interchangeably, but they’re not the same thing. An introvert needs to spend a lot of time by themselves and can get emotionally drained from spending too much time with other people, while a shy person may not necessarily want to be alone but may feel hesitant or insecure when being in a group.
But do the personality characteristics of the zodiac signs have anything to do with whether or not someone is shy? Luckily, astrology is a guide that can reveal if you are one of the shy zodiac signs.
Sometimes shy people feel insecure, as if their words aren’t worthy enough to be shared or they want to make sure that whatever they’re going to share will get a good response. They don’t want to mess up or fail, which can put a lot of pressure on themselves and the smallest of interactions.
It can be hard to speak up or approach people if you don’t know what the reaction will be. When you overthink things, you can talk yourself right out of doing it. It can be challenging for shy people to take chances or act impulsively.
The shy zodiac signs are often the most thoughtful people around, and not hurting someone else with their words is one of their primary goals. Not all shy people are shy in every circumstance — they might be shy around strangers but extremely extroverted when they’re at social functions with their friends and family.
1. VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Virgos sometimes appear shy because they think before they speak. They're very mindful with their words and they don't want to seem as if they don't know what they're talking about.
In addition, they consider the effects that verbalizing their thoughts will have on other people and themselves. Virgos may hesitate and think about what they're going to say and sometimes miss the window for them to speak, so when they try it comes out awkward.
2. CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancers can come off as shy because they're great listeners and care what another person is sharing with them. They're not in a rush to speak and interrupt so they take their time in responding.
When Cancers are quiet in a group, it's because they're taking in everything that is happening around them. Cancers tend to be very tuned into social dynamics. Sometimes the most considerate and strongest person in the room is the one who is quietly listening instead of trying desperately to get their two cents in.
3. PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
Pisces are very sensitive and will try to guard their feelings, which may make them shy. They tend to feel uncomfortable and not at ease when they're in a room full of strangers which isn't an odd response at all.
If they're meeting a friend at a party and the friend isn't there yet, it's not unlike Pisces to send a panicky text asking them what their ETA is, rather than just walking up to someone they don't know and introducing themselves. Pisces are best at expressing themselves creatively and if that kind of opportunity doesn't present itself, they are going to get shy.
4. CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorns have their moments of shyness. If they're in a situation where they're clearly in charge, like a party they're giving or a work presentation, they do fine, but put them out of their element or put an emotional component in the mix and Capricorn gets shy. They make great leaders, but because of their social duality they have to work harder to prove it.
If they're in a situation where they feel shy or uncomfortable, they don't allow themselves to sit with it; they must push through it. Abraham Lincoln was known to be a great leader who also was considered somewhat shy and reserved.
5. SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpio's shyness can sometimes come off as being snotty or superior. Scorpios aren't stuck up, they're actually some of the most passionate and brave people you'd ever want to meet, but they can get tongue-tied.
Scorpios can be mysterious and may not want to share their secrets (or other information) right away upon meeting someone. It takes a lot for them to trust someone, so they can come off as guarded and quiet. There are also times when they would rather just not talk at all. If Scorpio needs to collect their thoughts or regroup, it's best just to let them be quiet for a while.
