New Details About YouTuber Jessie Paege — Including The Emotional Reason Why She Took A Break From Twitter
She said the platform left her "crying and shaking".
Social media isn't exactly known for being the friendliest form of communication out there, and it seems the pitfalls of Twitter, in particular, left YouTuber Jessie Paege feeling totally over it.
Jessie Paege's YouTube channel is filled with all sorts of creative videos and vlogs — from writing a song based on Instagram comments to video compilations of Instagram pic reenactments. She has an impressive 1.5 million followers on YouTube as well.
Being an online celebrity also means keeping up an active social media presence. That being said, sometimes the negativity is just too much.
On Monday night, Jessie took to Twitter to announce she would be taking a break from the social platform. The YouTube star posted a series of tweets explaining her reasoning for abandoning Twitter. In one post, she says she is too sensitive and that she felt people didn't like her.
"I’m gonna take a break from Twitter. I’m just too sensitive and people here don’t like me."
She went on to thank her fans for their kindness and that she was feeling lonely and scared.
Well, the Twitter hiatus didn't last long.
Jessie Paege was back to tweeting by October 24. Sometimes a recharge — even a brief one — is all you need to move forward and once again, brace the online trolls.
This wasn't the first time Jessie announced a break from Twitter. Back in June, the YouTuber she'd be leaving. We The Unicorns reports that the reasoning behind her initial departure in June was due to accusations of using the LGBTQ+ community in order to get retweets after posting a photo as an "LGBTQ+ Disney princess."
Now that she's active again on social media, here are five interesting details to know about YouTube star Jessie Paege.
1. She recently came out as bisexual.
Jessie Paege came out as bisexual this past June and was featured in an interview with The Advocate. In her interview, Jessie opened up about her journey, her feelings moving forward, and why she felt it was time for her to finally come out.
"I've wanted to come out for years now and I kept telling myself I'd do it without actually taking the actions. Once I would actually start coming out, I'd realize how difficult it can be, emotionally, and I'd tell myself 'tomorrow.' I started posting a lot more LGBT-related content this month and I think it was a subconscious sign that I really needed to come out."
She officially made the announcement with two in-depth videos posted to her YouTube channel. The first part received over a million views. Her reasoning for choosing the video platform to come out was due to the fact that's where she started.
"YouTube is where I started! I feel like you can't tell a coming-out story in a character limit."
2. She's only 19.
Social media and a public life can be brutal for grown adults, not to mention someone who is still just 19 years old.
Criticism and hate can have a profound effect on young people in particular, which makes it totally understandable why Jessie would need a break from social media from time to time.
3. She's an author.
Jessie isn't just a YouTube star, she's also a writer. The 19-year old has already penned two books.
Her first book, Hey, It's Okay to Be You, was published in 2017 and Think Beyond Pink came out in 2018. Both are activity books geared toward positivity and self-confidence.
4. She acts.
Acting is also in Jessie's wheelhouse. Her IMDB credits go back to 2016, with roles in the series Guidance and Guilty Party, along with the upcoming film Followers.
5. She's the other Jessie Eisenberg.
OK. Well, this is sort of a fun fact. Jessie's full name is Jessica Paige Eisenberg.
It makes sense she would go by Jessie Paege, since there's already an actor named Jesse Eisenberg — who incidentally played another famous social network figure we all know.
