Who Is Mike Sorrentino's Brother? New Details About Marc Sorrentino Who's Accused Of Stealing More Money From The US Government
He's in trouble again.
Who Is Mike Sorrentino's brother? Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino's brother Marc is in a boatload of legal trouble. Not only was he sentenced to two years in prison on October 5th, but now he's been accused of stealing more money from the U.S. Government. Hasn't he learned his lesson? Marc has been hit with an order claiming that he obtained his government-paid attorney fraudulently. It is believed that he makes more than enough to pay for his legal team. Who is Marc Sorrentino?
1. Tax evasion
Earlier this month Marc Sorrentino was sentenced to two years in prison on October 5th for his role in a tax evasion scheme with his younger brother Mike of Jersey Shore fame. According to the federal indictment, Michael Sorrentino aggressively cashed in on his fame. From 2010 to 2012 he and his brother made $8.9 million from appearance fees and endorsements, a partnership with a vodka company, the publication of an autobiography, and a comic book starring Mike. Most of the money was paid to the brothers in cash. The brothers were indicted in 2014 on charges of conspiring with their accountant to evade taxes by underreporting income. Marc Sorrentino was accused of altering company records after receiving the grand jury subpoena.
2. The latest charge
More recently, Marc was hit with an order claiming he obtained his CJA counsel fraudulently. CJA is legal representation for a person who cannot afford to pay for their legal counsel. Marc was assigned the CJA attorney on June 24, 2015. It has now come to light that he made more than enough to pay for an attorney and was never eligible for the benefit of the CJA lawyer.
3. Now what?
Marc has been ordered to provide to both the court and the government "accurate and complete information about all the income he has received from January, 1, 2015 through the present date." The order also requires him to estimate the income he may receive in the next six months. The court will then determine Marc's current and past eligibility for aid and whether or not he will be required to “reimburse the CJA fund for any monies already paid to his counsel in this case and/or personally pay all outstanding legal bills to his counsel in this case.”
4. Mike "The Situation"
Marc's younger brother Mike was sentenced to eight months in prison, two years of supervised release and 500 hours of community service for his role in the tax evasion scheme. Mike is currently engaged to Lauren Pesce and actively planning their wedding. Back in August, prior to his sentencing, he opened up to Us about the couple's mindset leading up to his sentencing, “We live our life one day at a time, and we’re praying for a positive outcome. You know, my current situation is not my final destination.”
5. Support of cast
As Mike Sorrentino made his way into court for sentencing with his fiancé on his arm, he was greeted by his Jersey Shore castmates, including Jenni "JWoww" Farley, Ronnie Magro-Ortiz, DJ Pauly D, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Deena Cortese, Vinny Guadagnino, and Angelina Pivarnick. His friends embraced Mike and Lauren as they entered the courthouse.
