New Details About Jordin Sparks' Husband Dana Isaiah — And New Baby Rumors
Jordin Sparks and Dana Isaiah's first year of marriage has been a whirlwind of milestones and bliss.
On May 2, 2018, 28-year-old Jordin Sparks gave birth to her first child, a baby boy named DJ.
The singer is primarily known for her season six American Idol win when she was only 17 years old. Soon after her big win, she released her hit track 'No Air' with collaborator and fellow musician Chris Brown.

Having stayed out of the spotlight for several years, Jordin has received a slew of questions from fans and the media regarding her recent marriage, new baby and the possibility of a second in the near future. Sparks told Hollywood Life that she and her husband, Dana Isaiah, will absolutely give DJ a brother or sister in the future.
If all goes as planned, however, baby number two might not make an appearance for a few years.
“It is way too early!” responded Sparks when asked about an upcoming pregnancy. “We would love them to be relatively close in age, so I am hoping in a couple of years.”
Jordin seems to be thoroughly enjoying her status as a new mother, and her husband is on board with her future familial plans.
So who is Jordin Sparks’ husband of one year and the father of her child? Here are five details about Dana Isaiah:
1. They met through their mothers.
Sparks’ and Isaiah’s mothers were friends, and when Isaiah decided to move to L.A. from Dallas, the two arranged for them to meet (via a group chat initially) so that Sparks could give him advice on moving to the city and becoming successful.
According to Bustle, the mothers didn’t plan for their children to hit it off; they simply intended the two to have a friendly meeting and for Sparks to be a contact for Isaiah in an unfamiliar place. Sparks says that she knew immediately that they shared a particularly strong connection.
“A couple days after we had actually met, I was like in my head ‘That’s going to be my husband! That’s my husband right there,’” she said to People. The relationship began quickly and didn’t stop there.
2. They eloped together on vacation.
Sparks and Isaiah were reportedly on vacation together in Hawaii when they made the spur-of-the-moment decision to marry.
According to People, the two took the trip in July of 2017 just three months after their relationship began in April of the same year. Sparks’ best friend, who joined the pair on vacation, got ordained before the trip and carried out the “ceremony” in the ocean surrounded by their closest friends.
The relationship may be fast-moving, but the pair does not seem to mind at all.
2. Dana Isaiah is a fitness model.
While both Sparks and Isaiah are passionate about fitness, Isaiah has made a career of it. The two enjoy posting Instagram pictures at the gym together complete with motivational captions and mutual encouragement.
Before meeting Sparks, Isaiah attended college at Southeastern University. He played on the school’s basketball team.
3. DJ is named after Dana.
The name ‘DJ’ is an acronym for ‘Dana Junior,’ after the child’s father.
Sparks told Billboard that her husband was by her side during the birth and highly supportive of all of her decisions throughout the process, including her decision not to utilize a hospital or any drugs for the birth.
Sparks has also opened up about the emotional turmoil that she experienced during and after the pregnancy. She leaned on Dana during the rough spots.
4. He’s religious.
Jordin Sparks and her husband seem to have connected over their religion. While they would probably be inseparable regardless, both hold their Christian faith near to their hearts.
According to People, the two opted not to live together until marriage, which may have been a by-product of their respective religious beliefs. Instagram posts from the two display motivational religious quotes and scripture, so it seems to play an integral role in their lives (and now, the life of their son).
Common beliefs can strengthen relationships, and theirs is a shining example.
5. The couple was featured in a Lifetime special.
On Sept. 6, Lifetime aired Jordin Sparks: A Baby Story, which documented the couple throughout the pregnancy and birth.
The special is somewhat dramatic, with Jordin’s mother, Jodi, clashing with Isaiah. According to E! News, Jodi felt like she didn’t know the man her daughter married very well yet at the time of the birth, which caused the two to scuffle in the special.
Also documented are Jordin’s firm positions regarding birthing decisions, which remained throughout several birth complications. The show truthfully depicts the lives and relationship dynamic of the couple.
