Who Is Emily Hampshire? New Details About Teddy Geiger's New Girlfriend

Instagram Musician Teddy Geiger announced on Aug. 30 via Instagram that she has a new special someone in her life.
The 29-year-old is known for her hit songs, such as “For You I Will." Both Geiger and her new girlfriend, 37-year-old actress Emily Hampshire, posted long, gushing Instagram captions announcing their love for each other. Geiger herself shared a candid photo of Emily alone.
“I am so happy this woman is alive … with the sound of music. She is a song I will sing for a thousand years. She fills my heart with the sound of music. My heart wants to sing every song it hears,” the post's caption read, much of it quoting the romantic movie and musical The Sound of Music.
In October 2017, that Geiger announced that she was coming out as transgender.
According to Page Six, she found out that she was transgender in a therapy session. She began wearing make-up and women’s clothing but kept the name “Teddy” as she was already well-known by that time.

In the mid-2000s, Geiger was a solo musician who opened for Hilary Duff on tour and was nominated for “Artist of the Year.” Today, she is better known for writing and production on hit songs including Shawn Mendes’ hit song “Stitches.”

1. She is Teddy Geiger’s first girlfriend since her transition.
While Geiger first announced her transition in October of 2017, she didn’t appear publicly as a woman until May 2018. This is her first public relationship since her transition.
Geiger’s past dating repertoire includes a 2008-2010 relationship with actress Emma Stone, known for her roles in La La Land and Easy A.
2. Hampshire stars in the Canadian sitcom Schitt’s Creek.
Schitt’s Creek is a Canadian sitcom about a rich family that loses their fortune, forcing them to hilariously navigate life while poor.
Hampshire plays a main role as Stevie Budd, a new friend of the rich adult children in the family. She also had a small role in the 2017 psychological horror film, Mother! according to IMDB.
3. She shared a similar Instagram announcement of the relationship.
While Hampshire initially posted a photo of a photo strip of the two sans explanation, she later posted another photo that pointed to their relationship. Hampshire’s Instagram post features a selfie of the two women accompanied by a caption that confirmed her feelings.
“Just me & my girlfriend,” it reads, followed by a romantic set of emojis.
4. They attended the Toronto International Film Festival together.
As expressed by Hampshire’s first photo of the two with the hashtag #toronto, Geiger and Hampshire attended the Toronto International Film Festival together, according to The Huffing Post. The event took place in early September.
Hampshire is a Canada native, acting in mostly Canadian movies and TV shows. One of Hampshire’s movies, The Life And Death Of John F Donovan, premiered at the event.
