Bekah Martinez and Grayston Leonard announced that they're expecting a baby.
Who is Bekah Martinez' boyfriend and baby daddy? Bekah fromThe Bachelor is having a baby! The 23-year-old former nanny who vied for Arie Luyendyk's affections has announced via a PureWow video that she is about 20 weeks along with her first child with boyfriend Grayston Leonard.
There was discussion about whether or not Bekah was going to follow up her fan-favorite turn on the dating show with an appearance on Bachelor in Paradise. Those rumors were quickly complicated by suggestions that she already had a boyfriend.
It turned out that the Bachelor in Paradise rumors came to nothing — but the boyfriend rumors were right on! Bekah announced she was dating Grayston back in July and the pregnancy announcement happened this week.
So who is Grayston Leonard? Read on to find out more.
1. Climber
He’s a climber — not a social climber or a corporate climber. A rock climber. The couple met a a climbing gym and hit it off. They started out as friends but got closer very quickly. Bekah told PureWow, “At first, it was really casual and we were just doing a lot of fun stuff together, and then it just progressed into something deeper.”
2. Business owner
Climbing isn’t just a hobby for Leonard. He’s opening a climbing gym called Long Beach Rising. The gym is still a work in progress but Leonard hopes to officially open it in 2019.
3. Her own private paradise
Martinez had considered going on Bachelor in Paradise but the demands of the show — specifically that she look for a relationship with other contestants — didn’t fit in with what she was starting to build with Leonard. In a video she says, “But as it got closer to [filming] I just started realizing that it wasn’t worth it for me to put myself in that environment where I could possibly jeopardize what I had with Grayston.”
4. He’s a planner
While the pregnancy was a surprise to both of them, happening only a few months into their relationship, he got right into the details. Bekah told PureWow, “He immediately started researching prenatal vitamins and then presented me with the top four options to choose from,” she says. “He’s been really into finding resources and reading books about pregnancy. He stepped up to the plate and it just makes me feel that much better about starting this new chapter in my life with him.”
5. Bachelor blackout
Leonard says he never watched Bekah's season of The Bachelor, which aired after they started dating. Martinez told People, "His friends were like, ‘Dude, are you gonna watch it?’… And he was like, ‘No, I don’t want the show affecting my opinion of who I know her to be.’”
6. Wedding bells
The couple hasn’t made any remarks about marriage, except for a cryptic integral post from early Septmeber. In it, Leonard jokes about getting an annulment but the post may just be a joke.
The couple has not announced the gender of their baby. Their due date is sometime in January 2019.
