MTV lovers, we have some bad news: rumors have surfaced that Madison Channing Walls, who appeared on the network’s Real World: Skeletons, may have relapsed.

Walls’ season of The Real World aired from December 2014 to March 2015. It focused on the skeletons of its cast’s past. For Walls, that was her drug use and the people it forced out of her life.

Walls appeared to have reached sobriety by the time MTV cast her on the show. “I did a lot of things that I’m not proud of,” she told the Chicago Sun Times in 2014. “But it’s okay because it made me who I am and it made me a better person overcoming all of that. It was a big self-reflection for me. Opens a new window.”

While on the show, Walls fell in love with housemate Tony Raines. The two were in an on-and-off relationship after the show aired, but ultimately broke up in 2015 — but not before Walls became pregnant with Raines’ daughter, Harper.

Despite reportedly staying clean since at least 2013 when she arrested for theft and found with drug paraphernalia, new information suggests Walls may have relapsed on heroin.

According to Radar Online, Walls’ parents officially petitioned for custody of Harper in April 2018, which revealed that they’d been taking care of Harper since she was born. “The appointment of the parents as managing conservators would not be in the best interest of the child. It is in the best interest of the child that Petitioners be appointed sole managing conservators of the child,” the court filings said.

Radar reports that while Walls agreed to give up custody, Raines is fighting for partial or full custody of Harper.

According to Radar, some fans speculate that the custody battle is a result of a relapse on Walls’ part. The site claimed that “in a now-deleted Instagram post from July, Madison appeared extremely gaunt, sparking relapse rumors. She also appeared to have track marks on the inside of her arm.”

Then, in September 2018, Walls posted a cryptic caption on Instagram along with a photo of her and Harper.

“I just want you all to know... for reasons that had to be... I had to go off grid... I’ll be back soon,” the MTV star wrote, leaving fans wondering if she was headed to rehab. “Thank you for all of your support.”
