The Kind Of Comfort Each Zodiac Sign Needs
Sometimes we just need to know someone is there for us.
What kind of caring comforts you the best? You don’t comfort someone who is laughing and in a good mood. No, you comfort someone who needs to feel as if people care and that they’re supported. When we understand how to comfort someone, we help to inspire hope in the other person and make them feel a little better and stronger.
When the zodiac signs are feeling down, there are only certain things that can put them in a better mood. It's about much more than a horoscope, and thankfully, astrology can provide insight as to how we can comfort those around us. No one is comforted in exactly the same way; some people might prefer gentle and affectionate comfort, while others appreciate someone being very honest with them.
Empathy is a big part of comforting someone because we put aside our viewpoints and try to put ourselves in the other person’s place. We listen without judgment and just allow the other person to speak or stay quiet.
When you’re comforting someone, you stay present and are cognizant of what they’re telling you, both verbally and physically. They may say they’re fine, but their body language says otherwise. You need to be able to read what they’re telling you and be flexible enough to adjust your caring to what they need, even if they don’t know it themselves.
As friends and family, we need to be there for the people who need us, just as we expect them to be there when we need to be comforted. Sometimes all it takes to comfort someone is to let them know that you’re there for them and will do whatever it is they need.
ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Instead of talking it out, Aries may need to physically get it out. If time is an issue or a is workout not possible, offer to take a walk with them or to go into another room and do some yoga positions or stretches.
It would be great if there was a punching bag and Aries could let some steam off that way. Just helping them to focus on their body instead of their troubles is an excellent way to comfort them.
TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
The kind of comforting that often works best for Taurus is letting them know you're there for them and that you care. Give them your full attention, don't try to maneuver the conversation back to you, and be appropriately affectionate with them.
Taurus respond very well to touch, and it can help them relax while processing their feelings.
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
A great way to comfort Gemini is to let them get their feelings out, whether it's by letting them rant or encouraging them to journal about it. If they hold back their emotions, they'll only blow up at a later time and things will be worse.
Geminis are great communicators but if they're feeling sad or grief-stricken, they may not know how to talk about what they're feeling. Ask them questions to get them to open up.
CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancers feel their feelings strongly, so to comfort them you may have to be their cheerleader. Point out the positives of the situation (if there are any) or how things will be better in time.
Just giving Cancer a shoulder to cry on is very helpful, and letting them know that they are cared for and loved will benefit them greatly.
LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Leos are strong and brave, and it can be difficult for them to let down their walls and show their vulnerable side. Let them know that they are safe to feel what they're feeling with you, and that no matter what you will not judge them or think any less of them for being human.
With your words and actions, convey to Leo that you know they'll get back on their feet and will be stronger from everything they're going through.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Virgo is going to have to process everything before they can really get their feelings out. You need to be there supporting them with whatever they need. If they want to be alone, let them know you're in the other room if they change their mind; if they want to talk things out, be available to listen.
Virgos are used to fixing things, so they may reject any comforting from someone besides themselves. But they're smart enough to realize that being comforted by someone who cares about them is extremely helpful and healing.
LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
This may sound odd, but when Libra is feeling sad or upset, one the best things you can do to comfort them is to distract them. If they think too much, they'll go deeper and deeper into themselves and get very depressed.
There will be time enough to fully process their feelings, so take them to the movies or go get coffee — anything, as long as it isn't just sitting in silence while Libra focuses on their feelings.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Let Scorpio know that you understand and empathize with them, and then leave them alone. If they ask you to stay, that's great, but don't assume that they want any company.
Scorpios generally like to process their feelings on their own time and at their own speed. You don't want them to channel their sadness or rage towards you, so back away from them until they've cooled down a bit.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
Sagittarius tend to not dwell on things and are very good at managing their feelings, so let them tell you how you can comfort them. They may just want to have a philosophical discussion or watch a stupid comedy.
As long as they know you're there for them and that you care, you're good. They may not handle their emotions the way you would but that's okay — it's their process, not yours.
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorn is going to want you to believe that they're completely self-sufficient and can handle their emotions on their own. Play along with it but let them subtly know that you're there for them if they wish to open up.
Don't rush them or try to force them; let them come around on their own time-table. Capricorns are strong and they're used to dealing with things on their own, but it may be hard for them to accept help.
AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
Emotions tend to embarrass Aquarius, so they're often not comfortable in sharing them. It's best to give Aquarius some space and let them process their feelings on their own.
Getting them out in nature will help them to feel better, so suggest taking a hike through the woods or taking a swim in the ocean. Another idea is to go fishing with them; you might not catch any fish but being quiet out on a lake would be very healing for Aquarius.
PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
If Pisces is upset, they're going to need a lot of comforting, but they might not need it right away. Be sensitive to their needs. If it seems as if they need some time to think or work on a painting, let them have that time.
Encourage them to work through their emotions creatively and let them know you're there whenever they need you. Don't make them feel as if they're odd or strange for feeling things as deeply as they do; let them know that it's the depth of their feelings that makes them special.
