Who Is Mollie Tibbetts' Brother? New Details On Jake And Scott Tibbetts
The vow to keep her memory alive.
When Mollie Tibbetts went missing on July 18, her family held out hope that she would return safely home. Unfortunately, her body was discovered yesterday, August 21 and 24-year-old undocumented immigrant Cristhian Rivera has been charged with her murder.
There’s no doubt that her family and friends have suffered a great deal and are having a hard time coping with the reality that their daughter and sister isn’t coming home.
While we know some details about her father and mother, who is Mollie Tibbetts brother? It turns out, she has two. Here are five things to know about Scott Tibbett and Jake Tibbett.
1. She had two brothers.
Mollie had two brothers: older brother Jake, and younger brother Scott. Scott is a senior in high school this year and is planning to go to college in Iowa, while Jake is a bit older than Mollie, though his exact age isn’t known.
2. The family moved to Brooklyn, Iowa in 2007.
In an interview, Jake said the family moved in 2007 to Brooklyn and lived at their uncle’s house until their home was built. In 2008, all three siblings moved into the home with their mom, whose hometown is Brooklyn.
3. Jake was one of the last people to see her alive.
In the timeline of events, Jake dropped Mollie off at her boyfriend Dalton Jack’s house, where she was watching the dogs while Dalton, his brother Blake, and Blake’s fiancé Allie were out of town. Mollie was staying alone in the home.
4. They were hopeful she would return.
In interviews, Jake specifically was confident his sister would fight her way out of whatever bad situation she was in. “She’ll find a way out; she’ll find a way back home. It’s a matter of when, not if,” he said.
Of her return, he also commented, “We like to joke that she will be grounded for life,” but that she would be surrounded by love and support by those closest to her. “Everyone has someone like Mollie in their life. The smallest tip could lead to what we’ve been waiting for,” he pleaded.
5. They are dedicated to keeping her memory alive.
As Mollie’s boyfriend has said, “She’s more than just a flyer.” And her brothers, as well as her family, friends, and boyfriend, are determined to make sure people don’t forget about who Mollie really was.
In fact, both Scott and Jake say that Mollie’s personality is the reason so many volunteers joined the search efforts. She touched that many lives. In an interview with ABC News, Scott said, She loved her friends and family, and she was eager and that’s why you see all the support — because she affected a lot of people.”
