Who Is Chris Watts' Mistress? New Details On His Affair With A Coworker Before He Murdered His Wife And Kids
He portrayed himself as a family man.
Who is Chris Watts' mistress? The story of the murders of Shanann Watts and her two young daughters has captivated the nation. Shanann was 15 weeks pregnant with unborn son, Nico, and together, the couple were parents to 4-year-old Bella and 3-year-old Celeste. The bodies of Shanann, Celeste, and Bella were found a few days after they were reported missing.
The girls were found in an oil drum and Shanann was found in a shallow grave. Shanann was very active on social media and flooded her feed with happy pictures of the family together and screenshots of mushy texts between Chris and Shanann.
Soon after his family went missing Chris pleaded for his family's safe return. “If somebody has her and they’re not safe, I want them back now. That’s what is in my head. If they’re safe right now, they’re going to come back,” Chris said. “But if they’re not safe right now, that’s the not-knowing part. Last night I had every light in the house on, I was hoping that I would just get ran over by the kids just running in and barrel-rushing me, but it didn’t happen. And it was just a traumatic night trying to be here.”
After Shanann and the girls went missing, Chris claimed he didn't know where they were and did not know why they would leave. After days of interrogation in a bizarre twist of events, Chris finally cracked and admitted to strangling Shanann, but said Shanann was the one who strangled the girls. As the investigation went on, a lot more about Chris Watts darker side was revealed — including that he was having an ongoing affair with a coworker before he murdered his wife, daughters, and unborn child.
Here is what we know so far about his mistress and affair.
1. Court documents revealed Chris was being unfaithful.
The accusation stated that Chris was "actively involved in an affair with a coworker” before killing his family last week, according to allegations in court documents obtained by People.
2. Chris initially denied any cheating.
Watts allegedly denied the affair to police, an arrest affidavit shows. Authorities said they carried out a two-day investigation and confirmed the infidelity, however.
3. The co-worker has not been identified.
Investigators have redacted several lines of the affidavit in the paragraph pertaining to the alleged affair. The coworker has not yet been identified.
4. Chris wanted out of the marriage.
5. Friends and family of Chris are stunned.
“It’s beyond belief, really,” says Kris Landon, who has known the Watts family for about four years. “I never saw this coming."
6. Chris was portrayed as a family man.
7. Chris is a skilled liar.
People are stunned that the father who pleaded for his family's safe return outside of their home turned out to be the very culprit of the crime. Investigators, however, are not as shocked. “He has an incredibly large ego,” says Dale Yeager, a criminal analyst and forensic profiler who is unconnected with the case, adding, “He really comes off as sociopathic. That doesn’t mean he is mentally ill; just that he has a personality defect.”
