The Most Deceptive Thing Each Zodiac Sign Says
How you know they're telling a lie.
getty Liars think they’re so clever. But the truth is that liars tell us they’re lying with their expressions, body movements, and even the actual words they say.
We used astrology as a guide and looked at the deceptive zodiac signs, coming up with the most deceptive thing they say and how it fits with their personalities. Because a horoscope can only tell us so much.
Liars tend to speak formally and not use contractions; they’ll say, “No, I was not the person who did that.” They think that by doing this, they’re subtly emphasizing the point they want you to believe, but in reality, it just makes them sound kind of strange.
Another thing the deceptive zodiac signs do is speak in the third person. This is a way to distance themselves from the lie they’re about to tell. Again, it doesn't really work and just draws more attention to themselves.
People who lie will only be able to tell a story one way because that’s the way they rehearsed it. If you want to trip them up, interrupt them with a question concerning something at the beginning of the story when they’re in the middle. It will throw them off and will take a minute for them to go back over the story in their head, refresh the details, and answer the question.
ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries can be confrontational, so if they're cornered in a lie, they may try to turn it back on the person questioning them. The most deceptive thing they might say is, "Why are you asking me? What is it that you're trying to hide?"
TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus can be stubborn, and they may not want to tell the truth or lie, so instead, they try to escape the conversation as quickly as possible and just say, "I don't have anything to say on this matter. If you want to talk about something else that's fine, but if you don't, I've got better things to do than stand here and try to explain my actions."
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
Geminis are smart and brilliant conversationalists, but they can't always come up with a good lie on the spot, so they may try to delay the conversation until they can get their story straight. A Gemini may be deceptive by saying, "I don't want to get into it right now. Can we talk about it later?"
CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancers can be very sensitive and emotional, and they don't want to get caught in a lie under any circumstances. They think if they sound sincere, people will believe they're telling the truth. So, if a Cancer says, "To tell you the truth," they're probably lying.
LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Leos try to be honest and they usually are, but on those rare times when they don't tell the truth, they'll say "That's about it." Again, not using a contraction so it has the tone of honesty, but the 'about' indicates that they're not telling the whole story and part of what they're saying is untrue.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Virgos are a generally honest sign but even they have lapses. When they lie, they give too much detail as evidence that what they're saying is true.
"On Thursday night, I went to the show, but I couldn't find parking, so I drove around for approximately 30 minutes, but I couldn't find a spot. They were playing some vintage jazz on the public radio station I was listening to. By the time I got to the theater, the show had started and there was no standing room."
LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
If a lie will get Libra out of an unpleasant situation, they have no problem telling one. They're deceptive to save themselves. A Libra may act as if they don't get what you're asking. So, if a Libra says, "I don't know what you're talking about," it's probably them being deceptive.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpios are clever and mysterious, so they have that whole enigmatic thing down. If Scorpio is being deceptive (and there's a good chance they are), they might say something like, "As far as I know," meaning "as far as I know, the money is still in the bank" or "as far as I know, he's not cheating on you."
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
Since Sagittarius has a great sense of humor and a way with words, they may make their lie seem like a big joke. "Of course, I didn't eat the last bagel. I'm not a bagel thief. I don't kidnap bagels and hold them for ransom."
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Lying isn't a natural state for Capricorn; they like to be upfront and tell the truth. But sometimes even the most honest of us are deceptive. If a Capricorn says, "I do not remember doing that," they may be lying and trying to buy some time so they can fix where they messed up or so they can come up with a decent excuse for what they did.
AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
Aquarians tend to be very proficient in figuring out things, and they like hard evidence. If Aquarius says, "You can't prove that," it's obvious they probably did, but don't think you have any back-up for your accusation. If there's no proof, Aquarius doesn't need to worry that they'll be caught in a lie.
PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
Pisces are very sensitive, and they don't like to feel as if they're being accused of anything. If they lie, they don't think anyone will be hurt by it. If a Pisces responds to an insinuation with something that seems personal or emotional like, "You really think I'd do something like that?" they're probably trying to make the person on the other end feel bad for hurting them.
