As of now, sources say the singer “is awake and with her family." Lovato’s representative said in a statement. “Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”
In an update to their original story, TMZ has also reported that Lovato was out partying the night before in West Hollywood. It is believed that she was celebrating the birthday of her friend and backup dancer Dani Vitale, who some fans have now blamed for Lovato’s apparent overdose. Read on to find out more about Vitale and her connection to one of pop music’s biggest stars.
1. Vitale and Lovato partied the night before Lovato overdosed.
TMZ reported that Lovato “was at the Saddle Ranch restaurant/bar celebrating the birthday of one of her backup dancers.” Sources have confirmed this, with one source telling People that, the night before Lovato’s apparent overdose, “[Lovato] and her ‘friends’ were on a binger the entire night.”
Radar Online revealed that the friend TMZ referred to was Dani Vitale, saying that the dancer had thrown a “wild birthday bash” at the Saddle Ranch on Monday night.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that, when they arrived on scene, the partygoers were not on the scene and members of Lovato’s team did not provide any information about the drug(s) that caused the medical emergency.
2. Some fans have blamed her for Lovato’s apparent overdose.
After reports surfaced that Vitale’s party and Lovato’s hospitalization may be connected, fans have taken to Instagram to voice their opinions. In defense of Lovato, many have criticized Vitale on her latest post, which appears to show her at a concert.
“Stay. Away. From. Our. Idol,” wrote one user. “When I see you around Demi again. YOU ARE DONE,” wrote another. Yet another comment alleged that Vitale “left demi dying on the floor because she didnt want to get arrested.”
3. Were Vitale and Lovato dating?
Both stars have posted images on Instagram displaying affection for one another.
Last month, Entertainment Tonight reported that Lovato posted an image of she and Vitale holding hands and touching tongues with the caption “Happy Pride!” The post has since been deleted, but the image can be seen here, as published by The Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, Vitale posted a similar image on Instagram just a few days earlier. The post, which shows she and Lovato embracing and smiling at one another, is captioned “My 9-5 job > yours.”
4. She’s been a dancer since childhood.
Vitale’s interview with “You Got This, Girl!” details her career in dance, which began at an early age. She got her start training and dancing competitively during her childhood in Cleveland. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2008, she’s performed with Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, and Beyoncé, among many others. She’s also danced on many awards shows and for multiple world tours.
5. She’s also an ambassador for Under Armour.
Aside from her career as a dancer, Vitale is also an ambassador for sports apparel company Under Armour with her own page on the company’s website. The site identifies Vitale as a “Professional Dancer, Choreographer & UA Ambassador” on the page, which features her wearing the company’s various products.
“Dani Vitale never slows down. So we asked her what she wears to keep moving, anywhere she goes,” the site says. “Here’s the gear Dani hand-picked for this behind-the-scenes shoot.”
She also said in her interview with “You Got This, Girl!” that, prior to working with Under Armour, she had been involved in a campaign with Dick’s Sporting Goods.
6. She wants to inspire younger generations through her work.
Vitale explained her goal to inspire younger generations of dancers in her interview with “You Got This, Girl!”
“I want to show young girls that being a dancer doesn’t just mean dancing behind someone or in a huge group, it can be so much more than that,” Vitale says in the interview. “No matter how big or small the goals & dreams are, [a young girl] should constantly remind herself that ‘She’s GOT THIS’ and it is up to her to take control in her own life.”
