Who Is Jeff Lewis' Surrogate? New Details About Alexandra Trent And Why He's Being Sued Over The Birth Of His Daughter
The Bravo TV star is in hot water.
We all know Jeff Lewis as the temperamental, hilarious, and ridiculously talented interior designer from Flipping Out on Bravo. But Lewis also has a soft side, as we’ve seen through his relationship with partner Gage Edward. In 2016, the pair had a daughter, Monroe, born via surrogacy, and the happy couple finally felt like their family was complete.
On SiriusXM, Lewis and Edward revealed that they’d eventually like to try for a second child, this time a boy. “We have five frozen embryos. The next baby will be Gage's embryo, and his strongest embryo is a boy. So hopefully we're gonna have a boy,” Lewis said.
But their dream to extend their family may have to wait because their former surrogate is suing Bravo TV, as well as Lewis and Edward.
So, just who is Jeff Lewis’ surrogate and why is she suing? Alexandra Trent is suing the network because she was “humiliated by their disgusting comments about the birth,” and she was not aware producers would “film her vagina.” Naturally, the couple is devastated by her lawsuit, especially since they had a good relationship and considered her part of their family.
In fact, after hearing from their surrogacy attorney that Trent was upset by Lewis’ remarks, he sent her flowers and an apology.
“I thought all was good. We spoke to her for months and months! She sent gifts. We were reaching out and giving her updates and pictures. I’m telling you, this was an amazing experience. We were friends. She was a part of our family. We bought her a beautiful push gift. That’s what’s so insane to me. I thought this was over.”
Lewis’ comment? “If I was a surrogate, and I had known there was going to be an audience, I probably would have waxed. And that was the shocking part for Gage. I don’t think Gage had ever seen a vagina, let alone one that big.” Yikes. Apparently, that distasteful comment sent Trent into a depression, causing her to cancel a surrogacy with another family because she was so embarrassed.
Trent also alleges that she never gave producers permission to film her, even though she supposedly signed an agreement before the show, and knew full well the birth would be filmed. I mean, wouldn’t you notice if there were cameras surrounding you constantly?
Lewis commented on her allegations, saying, “We were upfront and honest from the beginning, to the point where her appearance release was a part of the surrogacy agreement because the whole idea was to document this journey. It was part of her agreement, it was all tied in. So how do you now say that you didn’t know you were being filmed?”
According to Lewis, their once amicable and loving relationship is tarnished permanently. “Shame on her for mudding such a beautiful experience,” he said.
We certainly hope that Lewis, Edward, and Trent can come to some kind of agreement. After all, she did give them their little miracle.
