Who Is Star Brim? Meet Cardi B's Incarcerated, Very-Pregnant BFF Who Allegedly Leaked Blac Chyna's Sex Tape
Brim and Cardi go way back.
In 2018, after speculation that police arrested Star Brim, Cardi B confirmed the news on Instagram. Who is Star Brim? Brim is Cardi's best friend and was reportedly arrested for wire fraud. She could spend up to 15 years in prison if she's convicted.
The rapper confirmed it by posting a photo of her and Brim with the caption, "Miss her already." The shocking news first came after Azaelia Banks took to Twitter and wrote, "lol Cardi B's friend Star Brim tired threatening and harrassing [sic] me via Instagram a while back and now she's in federal prison for wire fraud."
Rumors of Star Brim's arrest followed quickly after that.
Cardi took to Instagram again in June 2018 to explain exactly what happened to her friend. “For two and a half years Star been out on bail. She got caught by the Feds and lost a lot of s***," she wrote.
After rumors circulated that Brim got nabbed by police, Cardi B set the record straight and said she willingly turned herself in to serve the rest of her time, saying, "Shorty been prepare for this and turn herself in early cause she just want to get s*** over with and do her time. I mean why wouldn’t she? after she finish her bid no more probation, can travel everywhere and she can live a normal love life!"
When news of her arrest spread, there was speculation online that Brim might "snitch" on Cardi to reduce a possible lengthy sentence.
Who is Star Brim? She and Cardi have been friends since they were both working in strip clubs, and have supposedly been open about committing multiple crimes together in the past.
Cardi has opened up about her past with the Bloods gang. In 2018, she revealed that she was pressured to join by members she was hanging out with when she was 16, but was scared for her future when she realized it was a "lifelong commitment."
She's mentioned the Bloods a few times in her songs as a nod. She said she still wants to "rep" them because you "don't leave your people behind."
The last time Star Brim had made headlines was when she was accused of leaking Blac Chyna's sex tape. She said she retweeted the tape because she found it "entertaining" but denied actually leaking it in a video.
“I hate the internet. I miss the good old days when I could just post and it wasn’t, like, reflected on my friends, like, ‘Cardi’s friend’... like stop saying that... cuz at the end of the day, I have my own mind. I post what I want to post,” Brim said. It's still not clear who leaked the video.
Now, Brim has finally been charged with different crimes — and not just her, but also 18 other members of the Bloods gang.
Last week, Brim, along with 18 others, was named in an indictment. Brim's charges include racketeering and slashing someone. She's accused of being the "Godmother," or the highest ranking female member in the gang.
The indictment also revealed that Brim was the one who ordered her gang members to attack two sisters who worked at a night club in Queens after it was believed that one of them may have had an affair with Cardi B's husband Offset.
The court documents also revealed a lot of other alleged crimes committed by the gang including fraud, narcotics, conspiracy, firearms, and also feuding with a rival gang, in which they conspired to murder some of the members.
Star Brim was also involved in another attack on a bartender at a night club who reportedly disrespected the gang. The attack was allegedly recorded.
The United States attorney released a statement about the arrests, saying, “The 5-9 Brims is a violent criminal organization that has terrorized residents of Brooklyn and Queens by committing brutal acts of violence in public places, trafficking narcotics on the streets and defrauding victims through financial schemes.”
However, there's somewhat of a catch. Brim has not been arrested yet, and that's because she is due to give birth soon and won't be arrested until after the baby comes.
In November 2019, Brim announced the news to her Instagram followers that she was seven months pregnant. Cardi B, of course, also wrote a post revealing her excitement for her best friend's happy news. "I’m so happy for you. This will be a never ending beautiful chapter in your life," she said.
Prosecutors in the case are reportedly currently in discussions with Brim's attorney regarding a date for when she will self-surrender to the arrest charges.
