New Details About The Missing 15-Year-Old Heaven Ray Cox — And Why Her Family Thinks She Was Abducted By A Man She Met On Snapchat
Heaven Ray Cox may be in grave danger.
On November 26, Tammy Day Cox discovered her 15-year-old daughter, Heaven, missing and found a note indicating she may be headed to California. Though she was initially reported as a runaway, police now believe she may have been abducted by a man she met on Snapchat.
Though it's not unusual for Heaven Ray Cox to sleep in, Tammy decided to check on her. When she went to her bedroom in their Texas home, she found her daughter gone. All that was left was a note saying she may have been headed the California but didn't give any indication about how she was getting there or who she was going with.
In a Facebook post Tammy wrote on Tuesday, she claimed her daughter had been abducted by an older man she was communicating with on Snapchat.
"I have an update and it isn't good. After putting pressure on Jhonathon White, he told me what I was after. He knew that Heaven had been talking to a grown man from California on Snapchat. Why he didn't feel it was important to tell me, I don't know, but it is what it is. The man she has been talking to is a predator, who has apparently been manipulating her for some time, and in her current state of mind, she believes that he is her friend."
In her goodbye note, Heaven said she wouldn't have a phone. Her mother believes the man has taken it from her because she tore apart her room and couldn't find it. It isn't clear who Jhonathon White is at this time.
Tammy also said in the post that Heaven has bipolar disorder and is currently off her meds and in a manic phase.
"I am asking everyone to share this to their wall, and particularly those who live in California and every state between there and Texas, she wrote. "This man told her that he would be in San Antonio for Thanksgiving and that he would pick her up."
Despite Tammy's post, police from the Orange County Sheriff's Office are still working to confirm these reports.
"As in any case, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is taking this very serious and is checking all leads that may give our office knowledge of Heaven’s whereabouts," they said in a statement. "We are aware of various social media posts claiming Heaven may be in the company of someone she met online. Investigators are working diligently to verify and confirm this information and will actively pursue leads as they come available."
Today, Tammy posted on Facebook that Heaven's passport is also missing. Her parents fear that the teen is in grave danger.
Heaven is a 15-year-old white female with brown eyes and blonde hair cut past her shoulders. She's 5 foot 3 and weighs about 113 pounds. She attends Little Cypress Mauriceville High School and has a nose piercing. She often wears a diamond stud on the right side of her nose.
She also occasionally wears a pair of large round rimmed, dark-colored glasses.
