Details About Russian Cannibal Couple Who Confessed To Murdering And Eating 30 People And Posing For Selfies With The Body Parts
Nope, this isn't a scene from a horror movie. This is real life.
In today's segment of things you never wished you knew, police in southern Russia have arrested a husband and wife for killing and eating at least 30 people over a period of 18 years.
Dmitry and Natalia Baksheev confessed to being a part of a "cannibal family," and said their cannibalism began in 1999. Police reportedly found eight body parts in the couple's home, along with a nice video that taught lessons on how to eat people.

Dmitry Baksheev said they stored human remains in their fridge, freezer and cellar, as well as preserving some of their "meat" in jars.
Police found seven packs of frozen body parts and even some remains that were pickled in a jar.

Officers were allegedly tipped off to the couple's crimes after a mobile phone was found in a nearby city that contained pictures of a man posing for selfies with human body parts.
Around that same time, police also found remains of a woman on land linked to a military academy where Dmitry and Natalia Baksheev worked.
Police also found a photo of a human head on a plate surrounded by oranges that is time-stamped for Dec. 28, 1999, which would corroborate with Dmitry Baksheev's account of when the killings started.
Other than evidence of their horrific dinner habits, police said the apartment was cluttered with trash, that the couple had an odd collection of wigs.
In their confession, the couple said they drugged their victims to sleep before killing them.
Even more bizarre, the couple apparently lived on the military base where they worked. Neighbors often complained about a smell.
"Each time we tried to enter their room, they started wild shouting and crying," said one of the workers. "Natalia is a scandalous woman, aggressive, so we did not risk it."
The couple is being detained, and police are investigating multiple murders. It's not clear whether police have identified any other members of the "cannibal family."
