Do you sometimes feel as if you’re a jerk magnet? No matter how you try to do things differently, you fall for a jerk with the same kind of assh*le personality.
You desperately want to end this pattern of jerky guys but you feel powerless to do so. Finding the right guy is challenging enough in this world, but finding the right guy in a sea of jerks seems downright impossible sometimes.
You meet a new guy and by all appearances, he seems great — kind, articulate, hot, and smart. But then when things start to get comfortable, his true jerk side is revealed and once again you find yourself falling for an assh*le.
It isn’t that there aren’t signs that he’s not quite Mister Perfect — there are a ton of them. But for whatever reason you ignore them or try to talk yourself into believing that he’ll change, that’s he’s not a true jerk, and that all he needs is someone to believe in him so much that he grows up and stops being so self-centered and thoughtless.
It’s possible, I guess, for a jerk to become a better person, but it doesn’t happen that often. Once a jerk, always a jerk, and when a jerk ages, the traits that make them a jerk just intensify and make being around them practically unbearable.
You especially don’t want to be with a jerk who doesn’t respect you or treat you right. No one deserves that and if that’s the way they want to treat you, they don’t deserve to be with you, even if they have other more redeeming qualities. No matter how hot someone is, if they treat you like crap, you need to cut them out of your life.

He's a jerk because his conflict management skills leave a lot to be desired. He absolutely refuses to see things from your point of view and won't compromise. There's no give when you're in an argument or you want him to do something he doesn't want to do. His go-to response is to have a very intense yet chilly temper tantrum which will be impossible for you to deal with. There's no open discussion, there's only his way.

You can feel sorry for him and wish his circumstances were better but he's still a jerk.
