Miley & Liam Are Stronger Than Ever — Here's How She Saved Their Relationship
It wasn't easy.
Miley Cyrus is growing up. In case you doubt it, it's been two years, and now she's back to wearing the massive engagement ring given to her by Liam Hemsworth.
We haven't really heard all that much from everyone's favorite wrecking ball lately, and frankly, I've missed her! I always thought it was insane that at the MTV Video Awards, she became infamous for twerking up on Robin Thicke, and he somehow came out of that smelling like roses.
In an age where what burgeoning female sexuality is supposed to look like, Miley Cyrus shaved the sides of her head, stuck out her tongue, and dared you to try and define who she was going to be.
It's the kind of behavior I WANT to see from a maturing pop star, you know, the kind of behavior that would have a parent taking away their car keys and threatening reform school.
Life is about growing up and being able to look back on that, you know, music video you did in the nude and be like "what was I thinking?"
Miley has been doing a lot of that lately, and it's her evolving maturity that helped her relationship with Liam Hemsworth get back on track.

Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus broke up at the peak of her twerking, teddy bear, moment. Miley explained that they were both growing and in order to do that, they had to be apart.
Now that they are back together, they appreciate their relationship more than ever. And there's something else contributing to Miley's success this second time around with Liam.
“I haven’t smoked weed in three weeks, which is the longest I’ve ever [gone without it]. I’m not doing drugs. I’m not drinking. I’m completely clean right now! That was just something that I wanted to do," said Miley.
Drugs and booze can definitely impact the way in which you see the world. I mean hell, that's why I love them! (Kidding, kidding, calm down mom).
But being a woman in the world on the cusp of adulthood living your life in the limelight? That can certainly make things difficult to deal with, too! I totally get why pulling the breaks on that stuff gave Miley the focus she needed in order to better be present in her relationship.
That said, I worry.

Talking about her changing look, Miley Cyrus told Billboard magazine: “I don’t think those people are going to listen to me when I’m sitting there in nipple pasties, you know?" She knows what she's talking about. If you're a woman with a body and you remind people about that fact, some people are going to be mean, some people are going to be judgmental."
But I don't think Miley will be herself or her relationship any favors by denying her sexuality full stop. She is with a person she wants to spend the rest of her life with, building a relationship with him, and that's awesome.
Here's hoping that doesn't mean she stops being Miley.
