How To Take The PERFECT Naked Selfie (As Explained By Porn Experts)

“Now that we have established that, I want you to stop and think about what you’re about to do,” says Angie Rowntree, an adult entertainment filmmaker and creator of female erotica website sssh.com. “It’s time to take a nude selfie.”

First, we must establish that there are two kinds of nekkid selfies a person can take: one is to tease the viewer and make them want more.

“For this, you’re not showing everything all at once. Think: tangled in bed sheets, halfway wearing a shirt or dress, covering yourself with your hands, being partially submerged in a bubble bath,” says Jessica Drake, an adult director and Wicked Pictures contract star. She is the creator of sex instructional series “Jessica Drake’s Guide to Wicked Sex.”

The second is much more straightforward. 

“The other is more direct, in your face naked. I recommend these anyway, whether you plan on sending them to someone or not, because they can be an awesome way to get comfortable with your body,” says Drake.

These two masters of being naked gave us the 10 most important rules when it comes to taking your own skin selfie.

1. Prepare for the possible consequences?

“You need to assume if you take it someone will see it. Maybe even a lot of people will see it. As long as you’re going into this with your eyes wide open, go ahead and do it,” says Rowntree, who got her start in the adult industry’s online sector in the early 90s, making her one of the adult Internet’s true pioneers.

2. Do a little art directing.

“Clear the background of distractions or messes, piles of dirty clothes, the litter box, or whatever is going on back there,” says Drake.

3. Natural lighting is what you want.

“Through my experience directing adult movies, I would say the key to looking great naked is lighting. Indoor lighting is horrible and can be so harsh, as can direct sunlight,” says Rowntree. 

Try and find a place with natural even light, and don’t use a flash.

4. Stay away from the bathroom.

Beware of nude bathroom selfies unless you have natural light.

“Bathroom lighting makes your face look tired, accentuates bags, and in general can highlight some areas you’d like to avoid,” says Jacky St. James, an adult writer/director and the creator of Showtime’s new BDSM series, Submission.

5. Set the mood and show some boob.

Have fun, put some music on. “Play with yourself, get turned on. This will put you more at ease, and once you stop feeling silly, you’ll start to look sexier,” says Drake.

Adult performer and director, Kelly Madison adds that it’s important to get the cleavage in. “Play it as if it were an accident and you were only trying to get your face. I like doing a bit of a head tilt since I have a wide jaw and it softens my look when I take it at a slight angle, as opposed to straight on,” says the creator of KellyMadison.com.

6. It’s important to pop your bootie out, creating a gorgeous curved line.

“Hold your camera above your head and pop out your ass so you can get both your breasts and your butt in the shot,” says St. James. There’s nothing like seeing a woman’s curvy areas.

The second most important thing is posing, and there are lots of little tricks. “Keep your chin up and shoulders back,” says Rowntree. "Good posture is SO important when posing in a photo, even more so when you are naked. You also want to angle your body slightly," says Rowntree.

7. Choose your right position...

“When you take the photo, make sure the phone isn’t positioned too low. Try raising your phone just a tad above your head — it tends to be very flattering. The same is true for how we angle cameras during an adult movie shoot,” says Rowntree.

It doesn’t take long to move the phone all around to capture different angles of the same pose. “Try angling your face differently, try some with your eyes closed. Maybe even some where only part of your face is showing,” says Drake.

8. There’s no shame in the app game. 

“While I don’t believe in false advertising, there are so many apps available right now to enhance selfies in all different ways. It’s like Photoshop for your phone, and anyone can do it,” says Drake.

“Best way to do a good selfie? Have someone else take it but make it look like you did,” says Madison.
