This Old-School 30-Second Trick To Give Yourself GIGANTIC Doe Eyes
Don't blink.
Good Housekeeping recently shared a 30-second makeup trick: the eyelash curler. My reaction was one of disbelief that there were women on the planet who have never heard of an eyelash curler.
The eyelash curler has been around since the 1920s. The first patent for it was granted in 1925 to Jorge Patino and it resembled more of a tweezer than a curler. In 1929, something closer to the eyelash curler we have today was invented by C.W. Stickell (with others) for the Kurlash Company.
Curled eyelashes helped make Hollywood stars look extra glamorous for their close-ups, and flappers to look extra modern.
Personally, I've never been able to use an eyelash curler. I can't stand anything coming at my eye and will involuntarily blink. I'm not good with certain eye tests either for that same reason.
But there are women who swear by eyelash curlers and consider them a crucial part of their beauty regimen. Vlogger Kirsten Milliken of http://twitter.com/PopPeacockBlogPopPeacockBlog demonstrates how to use the eyelash curler properly.
1. Start with a clean eye.
Some women heat their eyelash curlers with a hairdryer, but that can be harmful if you're not careful.
2. Carefully place your eyelashes in the curler.
3. Once your eyelashes curled, apply makeup.
4. Voila! Beautiful eyes with fuller, thicker, and longer eyelashes.
