Bummed About Your Single Status? Solo Weddings Are A Thing Now
This travel agency thinks it's time for women to stop waiting for a man to have a wedding.
It's rough when you're single and all your friends are getting married. That means multiple dresses, multiple times where you are running around crazily to find a date and buying multiple gifts. Also, having to watch people look fabulous and happy on their big day is tortuous if you're not happy about your single status. The worst part is, things don't really turn around unless a man proposes to you. How unfair is that?
Well, that might be changing if this Japanese trend picks up.
A travel agency named Cerca Travel started offering "a solo wedding trip" starting from $2,645. The trip is a two-day package that would let the single lady go on a dress consultation, have a hair and makeup session and a personal photographer.
But what about the missing groom? You can opt to doing the photo session solo (this is about you, after all), but if you want a human prop then they also offer a male groom to fill that role. Rent-a-groom at your service!
The solo wedding trip doesn't go as far as to hold an actual ceremony, but when all is said and done you will finally have fabulous, professional pictures of your big day.
So you must be wondering, what could have possibly led to the conception of this tip of wedding package? Mashable quotes Cerca Travel President Yukiko Inoue saying this is all "to encourage women to have positive feelings about themselves." About 30 women have already booked solo wedding trips since it started.
When I think about it, I get a self-esteem boost right after a good hair appointment and a selfie. This is essentially the same thing, right? Just, a tad more extreme.
But what do you think of this package? Would it boost your self-esteem? Let us know in the comment section below!
