'Fifty Shades' Friday: Why Is Jamie Dornan Perfect For Christian?
Find out why Jamie Dornan's co-stars think he's perfect for Christian, who sings on set and more!
Happy Fifty Shades Friday! This week's buzz surrounded the Fifty Shades Of Grey movie cast more than the actual production, since filming is wrapped (yay!).
Marcia Gay Harden, who stars as Christian Grey's mom, Dr. Grace Trevelyan, in the Fifty Shades Of Grey flick, dished on Jamie Dornan's appeal as Christian Grey: Dornan is a mystery, just like the BDSM-loving billionaire.
"I think the point is to have somebody mysterious because if you have somebody with too much pedigree to them ... you can't stop thinking about the pedigree. You just can't. It's almost impossible in a film to do that," the Oscar winner told The Huffington Post. "I think that would be very hard to do for that role, so I think it's good that he's a bit of a mystery."
Harden couldn't stop gushing about Dornan. When asked what should reveal about the relatively under-the-radar hunk, she said, "He's beautiful. He's chiseled beauty and the camera eats it up. He's an Irish boy. ... A U.K.-based actor who has done a bit of film," she continued. "He just had a baby [with wife Amelia Warner]. ... He's a sweet guy. He does surfing. He sings little Irish ditties occasionally, or he was singing a lot of Rita Ora. He's like [in Irish brogue], 'Oh, you got that in brain now.' We're like, 'Come back to America, because you got a scene in a minute.' 'But it's in my brain!' He's sweet."

As for her own role, Harden isn't too bashful — because she doesn't need to be. "If you are not in the red playroom of pain and pleasure with some naked flesh in your face and a sex toy in your hand, the experience of shooting the movie is much like doing any other movie," she laughed. "I'm the mom. I'm momma Grey."
That doesn't mean Harden isn't against getting naughty in real life. Speaking of the erotic trilogy of books, Harden admitted, "The story is so intriguing, and I think so many people have read it, and it is erotic ... I like looking and thinking, 'Why did we anthropologically select for erotic pleasure in pain? It's really interesting to me, and E. L. James has the answer."
Speaking of Rita Ora, many fans feared that the singer's role as Mia Grey, Christian Grey's adoptive sister, would hurt her relationship with DJ and producer Calvin Harris, and the two were even rumored to split up earlier this year before hitting the Grammys together. But luckily, the couple is all good.
Sources told The Mirror, "It's been tough for both of them but it's been even harder for them to spend time together recently. He's been busy DJing and she's working on her new album and shooting Fifty Shades of Grey. Calvin is more private when it comes to fame than Rita, which also played a part. He'd be happy to meet someone who has nothing to do with the industry."
Now that filming's wrapped, we're glad she and Harris held it together!
Meanwhile, Anastasia Steele herself, Dakota Johnson, has been coping with the adjustments she's had to make since nabbing the role. Her Cymbeline co-star John Leguizamo revealed that filming of the Shakespearean-inspired flick got crazy once news got out that Johnson was Ana Steele.
"Here we're doing the movie and she's just Dakota Johnson and the next week it was announced in the trades that she's in Fifty Shades of Grey and all of a sudden we're bombarded," Leguizamo told E! News. "But she still remained the same girl even though we had to protect her from the massive amounts of crazy." With a snap of his fingers, he added, "Her life changed like that."
So does Leguizamo plan on seeing Fifty Shades when it hits theaters next Valentine's Day?
"I'd like to take a look at some of the positions," he joked. "Maybe not all fifty, but some of the shades."
