Dad Forms Scout Troop That Welcomes Girls & Gay Members

After becoming frustrated with the Boy Scouts of America's infamous policy of excluding gay members and leaders, and fearing what that type of discrimination would teach his son, Todd Schweikert did the best thing for his 7-year-old: He started a troop that accepts boys, girls and all sexual orientations.

Schweikert aims to bring the postive things from BSA to his new troop. The 5th Brooklyn Scouts is associated with the Baden-Powell Service Association, a progressive organization that practices community service, as well as outdoor and survival skills.
