Johnny Depp's quotes about ending his relationship with Kate Moss have resurfaced following her testimony as part of Depp's defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard.

Kate Moss took the stand today to refute Heard's suggestion that Depp once pushed her down a stairs.

Depp is countersuing Heard for a 2018 op-ed article claiming that while not mentioned by name, the article was about him accusing Depp as a domestic abuser.

Moss's appearance in court via video has fans reflecting on the couple's relationship.

Why did Kate Moss and Johnny Depp break up?

Following their split, Depp said the break up was largely his fault.

Depp spoke to HELLO magazine in 1998, saying, "I have been so stupid because we had so much going for our relationship. I’m the one who has to take responsibility for what happened."

“I was difficult to get on with, I let my work get in the way, and I didn’t give her the attention I should have done … I have never got that emotional over a woman before," Depp also said.

He said at times, he did try to work up the courage to pick up a phone and call Moss and try to get her to be a part of his life once more, but he couldn't do it.

He stayed at home for a week crying because he let her slip through her hands.

"I was difficult to get on with, I let my work get in the way and I didn’t give her the attention I should have done," he told the magazine.

Johnny Depp and Kate Moss first met in 1994.

The duo met in 1994 at New York’s Cafe Tabac when Depp was 31 and Moss was 20. In the previous year, Depp recently broke up with his fiancee Winona Ryder whom he dated from 1989 to 1993.

George Wayne, a Vanity Fair columnist, said that he was the person who introduced Depp and Moss to one another, in a recent Instagram post.

He wrote, "Johnny was in the back having dinner and Kate walked in with Naomi Campbell and the Gone Wild grabbed her and made the introduction!”

“I had no idea that they would then become the IT couple for seasons to come, destroying hotel rooms across the globe during their still unforgettable union!"

Moss even said, "I knew from the first moment we talked that we were going to be together."

Kate Moss and Johnny Depp were documented to have a tumultuous relationship.

The couple dated from 1994 to 1997, with the Mark Hotel incident making headlines in September 1994 when Depp trashed his room after an apparent argument with Moss.

Police arriving on the scene claimed Depp was " in a state of possible intoxication."

A judge dismissed the charges, and Depp paid $9,767 in damages to the hotel.

Kate Moss says she spent 'years and years' crying over her breakup with Johnny Depp.

Speaking to Vanity Fair in 2012, Moss discussed her breakup with Depp, saying, "There’s nobody that’s ever really been able to take care of me. Johnny did for a bit. I believed what he said."

"Like if I said, 'What do I do?,' he’d tell me. And that’s what I missed when I left. I really lost that gauge of somebody I could trust. Nightmare. Years and years of crying. Oh, the tears!" she recalled in her interview.

Long-time collaborator and a good friend to Depp,  Tim Burton hinted previously that after Depp's breakup from Winona Ryder, he was unable to recover.

"It wasn’t the same as Winona. I felt weird to be around him like he wasn’t acting like Johnny anymore. It’s almost like Winona took Johnny’s soul, Johnny’s love," the director recalled.
