Meet Ethan Sandler — 'Mrs. Fletcher' Actress Kathryn Hahn's Husband
They met in college.
If Kathryn Hahn, the star of the new HBO Limited Series Mrs. Fletcher, looks familiar to you, its with good cause. She starred in both Transparent and Crossing Jordan along with a slew of other acting credits. (Her breakout role was as Kate Hudson's bestie in How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days.) It isn't a stretch to say that she has made a name for herself playing the girl-next-door who's also the voice of reason. In Mrs. Fletcher, Hahn plays a divorced, single mother who has just sent her only son off to college. Suddenly facing an empty nest, she decides its time to change her life for the better and sets out to have fun, seek excitement and find love again.
Hahn is an accomplished actress who does it all with her longtime partner and husband Ethan Sandler, so let's find out more about him! Who is Kathryn Hahn's husband?
1. They met in college
Kathryn Hahn received her bachelor's degree in theater from Northwestern University. She met her husband Ethan Sandler there. She jokes they basically lived together in the college dorms and never stopped. They've been married since 2002 and have two children: Leonard, 13, and Mae, 10.
In a New York Times profile of Hahn, she said: “I feel like I have remarried the same person a couple of times. We just keep meeting each other as new human beings.” This openness to change and growth is at the center of the list of reasons Hahn and Sandler have been a couple for more than 25 years.
2. He's a writer and actor
Ethan Sandler is a writer and actor. His credits include The Chocolate War, Flushed and The Enigma with a Stigma. He also played DOR-15, Uncle Fritz, Aunt Petunia, Uncle Dimitri, Uncle Spike and Cousin Laszlo in the 2007 Disney film Meet the Robinsons.
3. Their joint TV breakthrough
Back in the late 1990s, Hahn attended a theater festival where she met NBC casting director Tim Kring. She made a strong impression on him. He ended up creating the character of Lily Lebowski in Crossing Jordan just for her. Hahn played Lebowski from 2001 to 2007. Sandler also starred on Crossing Jordan, making it a family affair. Sandler played ADA Jeffrey Brandau from 2002 to 2007.
4. His TV acting/writing/producing career
While Kathryn's acting career took off, Ethan was busy making inroads in television. He has worked as a writer and producer on such shows as Whitney, New Girl and My Boys. As an actor, Sandler has appeared in guest roles on Sex and the City, The $treet, Psych, Transparent and New Girl.
5. Their Jill Soloway connection
Kathryn Hahn met writer/director/producer Jill Soloway (whose pronouns are they/them) at a farmer's market in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. From there, Soloway cast Hahn in their debut movie Afternoon Delight. From there Hahn and Soloway collaborated on many projects, including I Love Dick and Transparent. In Transparent, Hahn played Rabbi Raquel — a role in which Hahn was nominated for a 2017 Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series as well as a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for best ensemble cast. Ethan shared in that Screen Actors Guild nomination as he played Barry on Transparent from 2014 to 2016.
6. Mrs. Fletcher
Mrs. Fletcher, which premieres on HBO on October 27 is based on a 2017 Tom Perrotta novel of the same name. In Mrs. Fletcher, the main character Eve Fletcher is a divorced, single mom living in the suburbs who develops an addiction to porn after her son leaves for college. Eve works in at a senior living center where she spends her days tending to patients in their 80s who complain about their various ailments. Then, one day, an elderly man with dementia gets in trouble for watching a porn video on the senior center's computer. Suddenly, Eve is curious about the wide world of free porn online and she sets off on a journey of self-discovery.
