Meet Kafia Ahmed — Co-Star Of Netflix's 'Styling Hollywood' And Adair Curtis' BFF
She's quickly gained a fan base.
Whether it’s Project Runway, What Not to Wear, Queer Eye, or America’s Next Top Model, watching shows about fashion is a great way to rethink our own wardrobe. Seriously, one minute of watching Tim Gunn in the studio makes you want to trash every single piece of clothing you own.
And there’s a new show on Netflix that we can add to this list of wonderful shows. Styling Hollywood follows couple Jason Bolden and Adair Curtis of JSN Studio, where they style superstars, “elevate A-list homes,” and “connect famous clientele with the chicest looks.” It’s taking the fashion world and interior design world by storm.
But aside from the two main stars, there’s someone else who has everyone talking. Who is Kafia Ahmed? We meet the operations manager of JSN Studio in the first episode, and from there, she reveals she's a force to be reckoned with.
1. She isn’t exactly passionate about her job.
Kafia is best friends with Adair, but is open about her background being in “events planning.” Though she’s the operations manager, she’s constantly at odds with Adair, who's concerned about how much time Kafia is working for other clients outside JSN Studio.
“I definitely think about it often. Adair will be hard hit if I leave... He's the whole reason I ended up in LA. But at the same time, if it’s not your passion, how do you push yourself?” she revealed to her co-worker, Melinda. Kafia also reveals, “I’ve been hired multiple times by Adair and I’ve been fired multiple times by Adair.”
2. She takes financial care of her family.
Kafia has seven brothers and sisters and supports them financially, which is why she has so many side hustles.
“I definitely work extremely hard to make sure that I’m able to take care of myself but also meet the demands and responsibilities of my family. My parents are Somali immigrants and I support my parents. I also send money back home. I helped put my little sister through college. That’s why I work hard,” Kafia said in a later episode.
3. But she does have an education.
She received a Bachelor of Arts from Old Dominion University, and a Masters of Arts in Social Innovation and Creative Activism from New York University’s Gallatin School.
4. She’s quickly gaining a fanbase.
After the show premiered, the hashtag #KafiaMafia began trending on Twitter. Multiple fans have tweeted that they support her 100 percent.
One person wrote, “I'm not at all sympathetic with Adair and Jason having tension with Kafia when they refuse to pay her what they should be paying her. Another said, “Adair is out here driving a Tesla and his operations manager gotta get second jobs because she doesn’t even make six figures.”
