When Should You Ignore Your Feelings, By Zodiac Sign
Should emotion or logic win?
We often hear that we should listen to and follow our hearts because that’s going to make us happier and enjoy life more.
Of course, just like your head can get you into trouble, so can your heart.
When you listen to your head over your heart, your choices are often very intelligent and well-thought-out, but they can also be very safe and sometimes even boring.

That’s not to say that you can’t thrive when you only listen to your head, but there’s often not a lot of feeling behind those kinds of choices.
On the other hand, listening to your heart can make your choices very emotionally charged, which isn’t always a good thing in situations where you need to be smart and realistic. I know – pretty confusing.
What I’m trying to get at here is that you can’t just rely on only your head or only your heart when making decisions.
It’s important to use both your head and heart when making decisions because your feelings are just as important as logic, but it doesn’t end there.
There are times when you should ignore your heart and your head because it’s only going to get you into trouble.

But how do you know when you should ignore something that’s clearly such a big part of you?
Whether you’re a more emotionally open zodiac sign or one who prefers to rely on facts and logic, knowing when to ignore your heart and save yourself some trouble is an important practice.
Astrology can help you harness your emotions a little better by learning more about why you make the decisions you do.
Even if you don’t always take the advice to listen to your head over your heart, it’s still nice to know the reasoning behind why you do what you do, right?
Here is when you should ignore your heart and listen to your head, based on your Sun zodiac sign and moon sign.
ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Ignore your heart when you don’t get your way, Aries.
When you want something (or someone), it can be hard for you to play the long game.
You want to know what someone thinks of you right here and now, to hell with all of these preconceived relationship rules.
While it’s nice to know that anyone who wants to be with you doesn’t have to worry about where your heart is, your heart can still be the one to get you in trouble.
When you find yourself on the edge of a tantrum because your bae wants to take it slow or you have to practice patience, it’s a good idea to do the opposite of what you feel like doing.

TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
Whenever you set your sights on something, Taurus, you do everything in your power to get what (or who) you want.
While you definitely have a lot of determination to make things happen for yourself, you tend to coast once you succeed. This is where your heart can steer you wrong.
Ignore your heart when it tells you that you don’t need to keep making an effort after you already get something.
Relationships need constant upkeep, coasting at your job isn’t going to make you stand out, and your friends and family need to know you care.
Just because you got what you wanted in life doesn’t mean you should give up now that the chase is over.
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
Gemini, you’re not always the best at making decisions and sticking with them.
But when you do feel like you’ve made the right choice for yourself, it’s important to have that strong support system to back you up.
While you have great friends, there are times when you sabotage yourself.
Ignore your heart when it makes you second-guess yourself. People always say that you should listen to your heart,
But if you find yourself always questioning your choices and generally hating things that should make you happy, perhaps put your heart in the passenger seat and go with your gut instead.

CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
People like to call you moody and over-sensitive, Cancer, but you’re really just intuitive and open to other people’s emotions.
It’s good that you’re so in touch with your feelings, anyway! Not a lot of people can say the same for themselves.
So, naturally, listening to your heart is crucial when helping others and learning more about yourself.
The times you should ignore your heart, however, is when you find that you’re internalizing your emotions.
It can sometimes be easier for you to listen to other people than expressing yourself.
But, even if you don’t want to burden the same people all the time, you still need to find ways to express your feelings in a healthy way.
It’ll do you and your heart wonders.
LEO (July 23 - August 22)
You love having the spotlight on you, Leo, and not in a selfish or arrogant way.
You just really enjoy being everyone’s best friend, confidant, and sometimes even mentor or advice-bringer.
It’s easy to fall into those leadership roles when you’re good at them, amirite?
To your friends, family, and colleagues, you are confident, passionate, and super friendly.
You can thank your warm, kind heart for all of those traits.
The times you should ignore your heart instead of thanking it is when these nice words and the pull to be in charge starts to feed your ego.
It’s possible to be a good leader and be humble, so don’t let your heart make you cocky.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Ignore your heart when it starts creating non-existent problems in your head, Virgo.
We know that you can be a bit of a perfectionist at times, but there’s also a thin line between this perfection working in your favor and totally derailing you.
There are certain things that you just have to accept won’t be perfect, no matter how much managing or controlling you try to do.
Not letting your heart trick you into becoming neurotic over things that you can’t control is definitely a hard practice, but it’s one that will keep you sane.

LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
Since you are ruled by Venus, Libra, it’s easy to see where your love of all things beautiful and lovely come from.
You definitely enjoy the finer things in life, even if your bank account disagrees with you. One thing you really need to watch out for is listening to your heart when you know in the back of your mind that it’s not a good idea.
Ignore your heart when it tells you to treat yourself. You should only ever spend money and “treat yourself” with your brain because your heart is sneaky.
You can have everything you want and still be a realistic budgeter – all it takes is not letting your heart win the argument about whether you need something useless and expensive or not.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
It’s much easier for you to open up to others when you’ve known them for a while, Scorpio, which isn’t a bad way to protect your heart at all.
The only time that practice can get tricky is if you let your heart make all the decisions for you, good and bad.
Ignore your heart when you want to hold everything inside.
It can be daunting to open up to new people or be honest with what’s bothering you, but it’s the only way to let people in.
Instead, lean into those feelings and embrace feeling vulnerable – it’ll help you get along better with your heart.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
Sagittarius, you should ignore your heart when you find yourself trying to control everyone around you.
You like to think of yourself as laid back and easy-going, but there are certainly times when you like being the ringleader and calling the shots.
No harm in that, just remember that not everyone can and wants to be controlled.
Instead, worry about yourself and what you want out of life.
It’s important to fill your time with hobbies and passions so that the only thing you care about is controlling your success and happiness.

AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
You tend to march to the beat of your own drum, Aquarius. It’s what makes you unique and fun to be around, after all. It’s also what can be the basis for a lot of arguments in your relationships and friendships.
Since you don’t like to conform to what everyone else does and says, you try to do things your own way – sometimes without even cluing others into your methods.
Not everyone is going to be happy with how you handle your relationships and friendships – even if you really are trying to be more emotionally available. But ignore your heart when it tells you that you’re doing it all wrong.
You can love who you want, how you want, and do what you want in life without a rule book. And there will always be people out there to support you. You just need to believe in yourself first.
PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
One thing you’re no stranger to, Pisces, is making deep connections with people. You find yourself getting so attached to others that it becomes hard to know what your life would be like without these people around.
While it’s nice to know that there’s always someone you can call if you need advice or a shoulder to cry on, it can make you feel weak when you’re faced with someone else can’t help you with.
Ignore your heart when it tells you that you’re not good enough alone.
You are so much stronger than you give yourself credit for, and just because you prefer to have a strong support system around you, it’s not impossible for you to lean on yourself for a change.
Just don’t let your heart convince you that you can’t do anything without asking for help – listen to your intuition.
