They're At It Again! New Details On The Lindsay Lohan/Paris Hilton Feud That Simply Refuses To Die
Just when you thought it was safe...
Theirs is a feud that's, literally, been going on for more than a decade. It's at the point that we don't even know what they're fighting about anymore! So what's the latest update in the Lindsay Lohan/Paris Hilton feud?
Pull out your Sidekick phones and log back into MySpace, because we’re going back into the early aughts to remember the epic feud between Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. For a time, that’s all the gossip blogs (well, whatever few there were at the time) were talking about — and it somehow culminated with Brandon Davis, the son of a wealthy oil heir, infamously calling Lindsay Lohan “a firecrotch.”
Here’s what we know about the newly ignited Lindsay Lohan & Paris Hilton feud.
1. The feud started back in 2007.
According to Vanity Fair, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton first started feuding back in 2007. Prior to that, the duo — along with Britney Spears — were the best of friends, and were often snapped by paparazzi going out and about in Los Angeles.
It’s unclear, though, what ignited the beef between the two former besties.
“It continues to be ... 2007 in the world of pop culture? The Jonas Brothers are probably going to have a number one album; All That is primed for a revival; and Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton are trading barbs. Yes, the Lohan-Hilton back-and-forth has been going on for some time now. The former pals — who, in one of the most famous paparazzi-snapped photographs of our time, were once pictured on the town in L.A. with Britney Spears — are now, for vague reasons, making a public display of their distaste for one another. Or rather Hilton was doing that, while Lohan — espousing enlightenment — was trying to take the high road,” wrote the outlet.
2. Paris Hilton re-started the feud.
According to Canoe, the feud was re-ignited by Paris Hilton — heiress to the Hilton empire — who went on Watch What Happens Live to call Lohan “lame and embarrassing.”
“Playing a game of Plead the Fifth, Paris was tasked with saying three nice things about the actress. After a short pause, The American Meme star said: “She’s beyond. Lame and embarrassing,” she said to Andy Cohen, and the whole studio audience, according to the outlet.
3. But Lindsay Lohan took the high road — sort of.
According to In Touch Weekly, Lindsay Lohan wasn’t keen on keeping the old beef going. The outlet reports that when confronted with Paris’s nasty comments, Lohan cheekily replied, “who’s that?”
While Lindsay Lohan took the high road, her spokespeople weren’t quite as nice about things.
“After the episode aired, Lindsay’s rep gave a statement about Paris’ comments. “Obviously, Paris needs to feel relevant and is desperate for attention,” they said to the outlet.
4. Is this all a publicity stunt?
There are few things that will help previously irrelevant people get press than rumors of a “feud.” Just ask any rapper, any soap opera star, and any wrestler in the WWE.
And, according to AOL, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton are no exception to this rule. The outlet reports that Lindsay’s “long” response suggested that she knows it’s all a stunt, and she’s merely trying to help an old friend get some press.
"Nothing really makes me angry. I have no problems with anyone in my life and I'm grateful for that. I’m a very loving person. I mean, if it’s going to be good press for someone else, even in a negative way, then I’ll pray for them," she said.
