getty What inspires you to get competitive? Sometimes even the least competitive people can become competitive. They may want to one-up the neighbors, show off how bright their kids are, or want to make sure that everyone is aware of their achievements.
You might not think of yourself as competitive, and then you realize that you humblebrag a lot on social media. And depending on what astrology says about your personality traits, what the zodiac signs get competitive about differs depending on who you are.
Wanting to be perceived as the best or doing better than other people is a very human trait. It can come from a place of insecurity. You feel unworthy, so in order to build yourself up, you create competitions between yourself and other people.
Healthy competition isn’t a bad thing; it can help motivate you and help you to keep striving towards a goal. However, when being the best at something causes you to lose your sense of right and wrong, and where winning becomes the only choice, being competitive can be damaging. It’s all about being balanced.
When someone is too competitive, they can be boastful, annoying, and obnoxious. No one wants to be around someone who must win at everything or who is a terrible loser. You can't win everything, no matter how much you might want too. Sometimes competitions are silly things, like being with your girlfriends and seeing who gets hit on the most.
ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries get competitive about almost everything and with everyone, including themselves. If they master something like aerial work, they keep working at it until they get better and better.
When they're being competitive, they focus on winning, being the best, and they don't keep their achievements to themselves. They want everyone to know how great they are, even if they come off as a little arrogant.
TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus can be competitive about material goods and possessions. They want people to be impressed by their taste in art, home decor, and how they can take a piece of fabric and turn it into high fashion.
Taurus don't like being overlooked, and when they enter a room, they want to be noticed and have all eyes on them. They want their bling to be better than anyone else's.
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
Geminis get competitive about knowing what's in and being on trend. If there's a fabulous new restaurant, club, or workout craze, Gemini has to do it first. They don't want to hear other people's opinions before they've experienced it for themselves.
This makes them competitive about being cool and knowing what's hot and what's not.
CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancers are competitive about parenting, and if they don't have kids, they're competitive about their pets. Cancers want everyone to know how well their kids are doing in school, at sports, in art, and even at play.
They're so proud of their offspring, they believe their kids are truly the best and they're not afraid to brag about them. If someone challenges them, Cancers are going to do what they can to show that their kids are superior to everyone else.
LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Leos are competitive at work. It doesn't matter if they're an actor or CEO, they're going to rise to the top.
Leos are charismatic, energetic, and helpful but don't be fooled into thinking they don't want to be the best — they absolutely do. And they will come up with their own strategy on how to do it. Leos work hard to realize their goals and won't let anyone get in their way.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Virgos are competitive about knowledge. They are know-it-alls and don't care because it's just the truth. If there's any kind of trivia test, quiz show, or anything that tests knowledge and/or extreme talent, Virgo is going to participate.
Virgos love to have their remarkable intellect and creativity acknowledged, especially in a way that lets other people know they're the best.
LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
Libra individuals are competitive when they're underestimated or doubted. Libras love to prove people wrong, and when someone says they can't do something or they're not good at it, it makes them work that much harder to show people how wrong they are.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Competing against other people isn't Scorpios favorite, but if they have to do it they'll channel all their fire and passion into it.
Scorpios get competitive with their ambition. They want it all: power, position, and money, and to attain those things, you often have to compete with those who are better than you.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
Sagittarians are competitive when it comes to travel. They want to experience everything and go everywhere. Sagittarians want to be the people who know the spots that the tourists are ignorant about and where to get the best deals.
They're adventurous, and if there's anything one must see, Sagittarius is going to make it part of their itinerary. They will not miss out if they can help it.
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorns are competitive when it comes to people respecting them, and one of the ways to get someone's respect is to have power and money. Capricorns are disciplined and not impulsive. If they lose at anything, they keep at it until they win.
Capricorns need to have a strong financial foundation and a surplus of cash on top of it. Money doesn't buy you happiness, but it can make you competitive.
AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
Aquarians get competitive when it comes to music and music tastes. If they play an instrument, they want to be a virtuoso. They think their taste is the best and if someone doesn't agree with them, clearly, they're ignorant.
It's never a good idea to get into an argument with an Aquarius about money because of how combative they can get.
PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
Competing with other people openly makes Pisces uncomfortable. They may be competitive in their head, but they'll rarely show it. Where Gemini is competitive about trends, Pisces is competitive about their knowledge of art and culture.
In addition, Pisces have a deep understanding of how art makes them feel and they know that makes them special. Art doesn't speak to everyone, but it does to Pisces.
