How You Host Thanksgiving, By Zodiac Sign
Because an Aries is not going to have the same Thanksgiving as a Pisces.
One of the best days of the year is coming. At least, for those of us that love food. Thanksgiving is an easy holiday to overlook for some. It’s between Halloween and the various religious holidays observed in December.

Its timing is also awkward, as it’s a cusp. This year Thanksgiving lands on November 22, the first day of Sagittarius season. The holiday itself seems to be a bit of a mesh between Scorpio and Sagittarius.
A Scorpio move would be to spend it with close family and friends in your home. A Sagittarius move, on the other hand, would be to do something adventurous, like a turkey trot, or even going to Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, or the football game.
Either way, on Thanksgiving you celebrate the things you’re thankful for: friends and family, opportunities, and so on. Each Sun sign celebrates this day a little differently.
Offering to host Thanksgiving is a major commitment. There’s a lot of stress that goes into inviting people over—friends? Family? Both? Neither?—planning, preparing your home, getting your guests situated, cooking the food, having the meal, clean-up, goodbyes … it’s a lot.
But you’ll get a lot of help from your guests, and you get to make some beautiful memories in your own home. That’s another plus—you get to do it in your own home, no travel necessary.
Some horoscope signs are literally born to be hosts. For others, it’s a bit of a challenge. Nevertheless, it’s a rewarding experience in the end. You get to enjoy good food with your loved ones and celebrate the good things you have in life.
To make the best out of your hosting experience, you should understand how your sign reacts in different circumstances. If you’re not hosting, then take your host’s zodiac sign into consideration to better understand their actions and reactions.
Find out how each zodiac sign hosts a holiday, per astrology.
ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries loves to host. They prefer having things done their way; the best way to ensure that is to do it themselves. You’ll see them strolling through rooms with an apron wrapped around their waist, talking to their friends and family and cooking in the kitchen.
Once dinner is on the table, their job is done. Bring on turkey, stuffing, and most importantly, wine. Aries hosts will still ensure their guests are having a good time. When the meal is over, clean-up is relaxed. Then after everyone leaves, it’s Black Friday time!
TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
Traditions are of utmost importance to this sign. They’ll stick to whatever their family has done for decades. It’s probable Tauruses will only invite their family to Thanksgiving.
Traditions may include typical ones, like watching the Macy’s Day Parade and the football game. They’ll serve all the Thanksgiving staples, maybe along with something unique to their family. The focus of the day is family, who help provide stability to Tauruses.
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
“Family” can be a loose term for Gemini. They’ll invite lots of people: the more, the merrier. They thrive on all the conversations taking place under their roof. Everything is right in the world when Geminis are surrounded by chatter.
They’re likely to shirk their responsibilities for some good gossip, but their high energy will drive them eventually back to their other duties. If this sign doesn’t have some form of caffeine after their meal, they’re likely to pass out. That might be for the best, if they want to be well-rested for Black Friday shopping the next morning.
CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
For this Sun sign, Thanksgiving is all about family. Cancers are family people through and through. Very close friends may score and invite, but this holiday is usually a family-only event. If a guest brings a boyfriend or girlfriend, it has to be a serious relationship.
Cancer hosts will try to make their guests feel at home by making their own home warm and inviting. Festive fall candles will be lit, and if they happen to have a fireplace, it will be roaring. They might get a little frazzled with trying to make everything perfect for the most important people in their life, but with their family’s support, they’ll have a great Thanksgiving.
LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Thanksgiving is a party for Leos. They’re more likely to host Friendsgiving rather than Thanksgiving. More like a potluck with Thanksgiving food, too. That’s what Leos are thankful for: good food with good friends. What more can someone need?
Their home will be filled with sound by the time guests arrive. People will be huddled around the TV watching the game, beer in hand. At dinner, a Leo might invite debate to fuel conversation. Then after dinner, it’s time to prepare for shopping.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
It’s not a surprise for a Virgo to host Thanksgiving. They’re hard workers, so any event they put together is guaranteed to be a good time.
A Virgo host will be hard to track down, though. They’ll be in kitchen, constantly, almost hiding behind helping hands. This isn’t to be taken the wrong way—Virgos want to ensure their guests have the best time with the best food. It also might be a little overwhelming for them to have more people in their home than usual. But when it’s dinnertime, they’ll be happy to be surrounded by loved ones.
LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
Thanksgiving at a Libra’s home is hard to forget. You’ll probably have loads of pictures on your phone. Their set-up will be so Pintrest-worthy you won’t even want to eat at the table. Your host will encourage you to, however; all of the effort was for you!
Libras will talk to all of their guests throughout the day and make sure all their needs are being met. As an air sign, however, it’ll be hard for a Libra host to follow through on all their plans, so there might be some blips here and there. Not to worry—it’ll all be fine in the end.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Unlike other signs that will have full houses, a Scorpio host will entertain a small, intimate group for Thanksgiving. Their guests will be the people closest to them, whether that includes family or not.
The TV may be on for most of the day, but Scorpios will encourage conversation between guests. They love deep conversation, especially with honesty and varied viewpoints. You should feel more than a little special if you’re invited to Thanksgiving by a Scorpio.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
It’s rather unlikely for a Sagittarius to host Thanksgiving. They’re more likely to travel elsewhere for Thanksgiving, so they can revel in the changing world outside during the drive.
What will be most memorable about Thanksgiving at a Sagittarius’s place—though a lot is guaranteed to be memorable—is the food. A Sag will try some really creative dishes. Turkducken will likely be the main course, with plenty of alternative options for those with different diets. After dinner, it’s off to the mall to score some deals.
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Thanksgiving as hosted by a Capricorn is 99% guaranteed to be perfect in every way. They will plan EVERYTHING, down to even the most insignificant detail … which, to them, is extremely significant.
A Capricorn host’s goal is for their guests to enjoy themselves, so they will do what it takes to make that happen. They won’t be satisfied until the end of the night, when everyone expresses their gratitude for such a great day.
AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
Thanksgiving with an Aquarius host will not be an intimate affair. They enjoy being with larger groups. They will switch between engaging with their many guests, both family and friends, and taking time to themselves preparing.
Dinner is when they shine: this sign will hardly touch the food on their plate from talking. Nuanced debate is one of their favorite things, and Thanksgiving tends to be a good setting for that … as long as everyone involved realizes it’s all in good fun.
PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
When a Pisces hosts Thanksgiving, it’s chill. Initially, the parade is on, then the football game; the small-ish group of people there will talk amongst themselves, with the host pitching in here and there while getting everything ready.
During dinner, it’s important for Pisces to play music, probably classical, in the background. In a way, it keeps them grounded through any silences that might take place, though that’s unlikely. The people Pisces surrounds themselves with should help bring them down to earth.
